Vegetable Powered Aircraft
June 19th 2009 15:38
The airline industry has seen an advance in its technology when it comes to jet fuel. Boeing has been testing veggie powered jet fuel that is not only cleaner but seems to out preform the petroleum-based fuel.
This is good news for both the environmentalists and the airline industry and comes on the heels of a worldwide operation to strip our dependence on oil. But as of now, I wouldn't count on it being cheaper.
From the article:
...The cost of producing biofuels remains higher than the cost of jet fuel.
That is something we really should avoid at all costs and doesn't make sense if oil costs $100 a barrel and biofuel costs $150 a barrel. In this troubling economy we really don't need to pay more for a greener fuel.
