Vatican Praises latest Harry Potter film.

I really thought that it would be sometime before I got to point the finger at the Vatican. Lord knows I have tons of material, however there are some things that are so blatant that they need to be pointed out. Before this gets relegated to the dust bin of old news articles I thought it would be interesting to point out the Catholic Church in its ongoing attempt to appease the masses, Has now taken the heretical step of approving witchcraft and sorcery, which is in complete contrast to the teachings of the Bible.
Let's be fair though, We'll see what they said in there newspaper and then compare it to what the Bible has to say on the issue. Here's the AP version of what the Holy See's newspaper, "L'Osservatore Romano" had to say.
Vatican lauds Harry Potter
VATICAN CITY - THE Vatican lauded the latest Harry Potter film on Monday, saying Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince made the age-old debate over good versus evil crystal clear.
The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano even gave two thumbs up to the film's treatment of adolescent love, saying it achieved the 'correct balance' and made the stars more credible to the general audience.
The newspaper said the film, which opens on Wednesday, was the best adaptation yet of the J.K. Rowling series about the adventures of the bespectacled child wizard Harry Potter and his Hogwarts chums as they battle Harry's nemesis, the evil sorcerer Voldemort.
While criticizing Rowling for omitting any explicit 'reference to the transcendent' in her books, L'Osservatore said the latest instalment nevertheless makes clear that good should overcome evil 'and that sometimes this requires costs and sacrifice'. 'In addition, the spastic search for immortality epitomized by Voldemort is stigmatized,' the review said.
The Vatican's praise follows the sharp criticism of the Harry Potter series by a conservative Austrian priest at the center of a church crisis earlier this year.
The Reverend Gerhard Maria Wagner had characterized Harry Potter novels as Satanism, while also suggesting Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged New Orleans and surrounding areas, was provoked by sin.
So here we have the Vatican clearly supporting the movie which is about witches and witchcraft. Before anyone gets mad at me, understand I'm just the messenger. I simply present the information in its entirety and let you the reader make the final decision.
Lets see what the KJV of the Bible has to say about witchcraft and magic.
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Wesley further exponds on this in his commentary. For this Verse he states.
" Exo 22:18 Witchcraft not only gives that honor to the devil which is due to God alone, but bids defiance to the divine providence, wages war with God's government, puts his work into the devil's hand expecting him to do good and evil. By our law, consulting, covenanting with, invocating or employing any evil spirit to any intent whatever, and exercising any enchantment, charm, or sorcery, whereby hurt shall be done to any person, is made felony, without benefit of clergy; also pretending to tell where goods lost or stolen may be found, is an iniquity punishable by the judge, and the second offense with death."
Deuteronomy 18:10-11
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
And again in the New Testament.
Galations 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
So you have the Vatican which is the Headquarters of the Catholic Church saying one thing and then you have the Bible saying something completely different. But wait there's more. Even in the Church stands a voice of reason apparently.
Fr Gerhard Maria Wagner condemned the Harry Potter Films here's what was reported " Fr Gerhard Maria Wagner, 54, the rector of Windischgarsten parish, first gained notice in 2001 when he described JK Rowling's popular Harry Potter novels as "satanism" and warned against the magical spells and formulas used in the novels."
And this is a man who was promoted and honored by the Pope himself. When he was appointed auxiliary bishop of Linz, Austria, by Pope Benedict XVI on 2009 January 31. Wagner resigned on 2009 February 15. Is it possible he resigned because he did not agree with the churches liberal stance on the devil and sin? I don't know.
So there it is. The facts are that the Bible states one thing while the Catholic Church supports another. I'm sure I have painted a big target on my back by posting this here but again remember this is all quoted from the news, none of the statements made here are my opinion but documented fact for you to make a decision on. I look forward to the replies and opinions of my readers. My intention is not to offend anyone, but to simply wake up those to whats going on in their church.
