Russia stuff - Vampire Wars

August 4th 2010 08:09
So, there's six chapters, like Mandyland, and chapter one of Russia costs the same energy as chapter one of Mandyland. But the rouble count is slightly higher -- 353 roubles vs 343 tickets. One reason is that, for tier 3 of each Russia mission, each click completes 5% rather than 6%.

(Click here for the Mandyland ticket summary.)

By the way, it's harder to get roubles than tickets -- they drop more rarely; the amount of roubles-per-gift-from-friend is smaller; and you could buy 60 tickets at a time from the Collector during Mandyland, whereas it's only 45 roubles at a time from the Collector now.

Since Mandyland used 3075 tickets all up, you should probably get around 3500 roubles for Russia, just to be safe. And given that there's about 24 days left, if you buy 45 roubles each day from the Collector, you'll probably get around 1000 roubles, meaning you'll still need to amass another 2400 from missions and friends to complete everything.

***

Abilities are:

Offensive

Silent Kill (60/50) -- from chapter 3
Justice (75/50) -- from chapter 6

Compare with Superior Horrific Transformation (62/58). Justice is 13 points better in attack.

Defensive

Ice Shield (30/48) -- from chapter 1
Blood Armor (45/65) -- from chapter 4

Compare with Superior Impervious (38/44). Ice Shield is 4 points better in defence only, and Blood Armor is 28 points better in attack and defence.

Movement

Summon Werewolf (55/50) -- from chapter 2
Silvered Touch (60/60) -- from chapter 5

Compare with Superior Flight (60/58). Silvered Touch is 2 points better in defence.

***

For people looking to get the most points over the best-buyable-from-bazaar, Blood Armor from Chapter 4 looks like the way to go for resetting purposes. In general, defensive LE abilities exceed the best from the bazaar a lot more than do offensive or movement.

For people looking to get the best skill compared to all LE abilities, Silvered Touch from Chapter 5 seems to be the way to go, since there is no tradeable movement ability with better defence. All other Russia abilities apart from Silvered Touch are surpassed by existing LE abilities.

Might cost more FP to reset though...

***

By the way, those new abilities from Akem's Gamble -- unless you're using FP to gamble, my crude estimate is that you'll get one in about 1 in 50 spins -- making it very unlikely that anyone who doesn't spend money will obtain the epic ability. But maybe my guess is way off (though I doubt it), or maybe the drop chances will increase (also doubt it).

Ok, seeing that a couple of people have asked me...

-- Modern -- regenerates 1 energy every 3:30 minutes (for everyone else it's every 5 minutes)
-- Noble -- blood is paid every 54 minutes (for everyone else, it's every 60 minutes)
-- Primeval -- regenerates 1 health every 2 minutes (for everyone else, it's every 3 minutes)

Hopefully I got that right.

Here's some discussion...

Primeval

Even the moderators aren't positive about this class.

Amalia writes: "I usually recommend starting as noble then changing to modern when you don't need blood anymore. primeval is pretty useless, though, since you can refill health with blood. none of them give bonuses like in mafia wars."

And in response to a question about the advantages of Primeval: "honestly there aren't any, I always felt like that class got the short end of the stake".

She also disses them in her FAQ: "there are 3 classes, one for energy(modern), one for blood(noble), and one for health(primeval). in my opinion the health one is useless, but that's just an opinion. blood is more useful in the beginning, while energy is more useful once you get higher in levels b/c it will be useful to regain your energy back faster so you can do missions. one strategy is to make your vamp noble at first and then change to modern once you get higher-up in levels."

The main advantage of Primeval, it seems to me, is just a role-playing one; in terms of game mechanics it's a disadvantage. Why regenerate one health point every two minutes, when you can pay a small sum for a complete refill every minute?

Noble

Noble has the advantage that it does all of the work for you -- you get the benefits of the class even if you decide to go on holiday for a month.

The only problem is that, after a certain point, blood stops being useful. So when you've got blood coming out of your ears, it's probably time to switch to Modern.

How much blood do you need? Well... The most you'll need is probably around 2 billion per hour, and you can get away with a lot less. This 2 billion would pay for:

-- Your "golden army" of superior horrific transformations, imperviouses, and flights (around 1.2 billion per hour upkeep). In practice, you'll replace a lot of these abilities with LE abilities.
-- Collector (costs about a quarter of your hourly blood flow, once per day).
-- Mandy spins (maybe a couple hundred thousand every four hours).
-- Hitlisting people (15% of your hourly blood flow).
-- Plus a little extra, both to cover any losses from being attacked, and to make a profit to reinvest, because you never know what new use Zynga will find for blood flow in the future.

Modern

Basically, having the extra energy is certainly an advantage, but not as much of an advantage as one might think. It's more valuable at the start of your VW career, and less valuable the more levels you ascend.

As a Modern vamp, you get about 17 energy per hour, whereas everyone else gets 12 energy. In a whole day, without Warlock's Gifts, you'll regenerate around 411 energy points, whereas non-Modern vamps will regenerate 288 points -- so that's 123 points extra. This is equivalent to 369 experience points (if you have a 100% Glyph of Wisdom running).

At what point does this extra amount become negligible? Well, I really don't know, because every little bit counts... But here's some indications:

At level 100 you need 2211 xp to go up a level.
At level 200, it's 4411 xp.
At level 300, 6611 xp.
Level 1000, 22,011 xp.
Level 2000, 44,011 xp.

By level 2000, that 369 xp is equivalent to about 0.84% of what you need to go up a level.

So after some ambiguous point, the energy you regenerate, Modern or non-Modern, counts for dick, and you're relying, instead, on Twilight's Graces and dead bulls to keep you going -- making the choice of character class, in the long run, mainly an aesthetic decision...

Same deal as with Mandyland really.

You've got the option between 45 dolls and one 50% dead bull from the Collector, and say you want to maximize the number of dolls you get every day

Apocalypse Seals - Vampire Wars

Paraphrasing from the Zynga forums. You can read the original thread here.

Q. I've reached my daily limit of five seals. If I click on a link to help someone, do they still get 2% towards completing their mission?

In terms of raw combat ability, is it better to buy the Mandyland Circus Sets, or should you buy a limited edition ability? Which would make you a better combat vamp for the new Arena system?

Here's how the maths works

You've got 35 favor points. You could buy the latest limited edition ability, or you could visit the Elders and buy some skill points.

You could also just save up the favor points instead of spending them

Say you want to get as many carnival tickets as you can, so you go to the Collector. Now, do you buy the 60 tickets in one hit, or do you buy a 50% refill?

Of course, the dead bull gives you more than just tickets. You get experience points, blood, items, skill points, favor points, trophies from doing missions. But if you only care about tickets, and if you discount the possibility of going up a level and getting a 100% refill

Overachiever trophy - Vampire Wars

The main secret is to prepare, prepare, prepare, then jump on the opportunity when it's given to you.

So here's some tips. If you follow all of them, you'll get the trophy in less than an hour, instead of sitting around all day working on it
