Vacation At Home
July 17th 2007 22:13
When people normally think of a vacation, they have a destination in mind. You go to visit your family, camping at a state park, Six Flags, Disney World, anywhere but nowhere. What is the point of a vacation if you are just going to loaf around at home for a week with nothing to do?
Well, I am on vacation this week and I am staying home with nothing to do. My boyfriend could not get any time off, and I really need to use up my time. I do have plans though, and I have actually started on them! Yesterday I cleaned out all the trash, junk, and randomness piled up in my computer (homework) room. I made a list of all the stuff and posted it yesterday. Today I went through all the old bills and piles of papers, and have a huge stack of stuff to shred along with a neatly organized file system. I also mowed the front lawn, and I am going to start refinishing a table.
Plans for the rest of the week are not very concrete. I need to sort books - mom, sister, half-price-books or keep. I have to cut the backyard (tomorrow), weed my overgrown flower-bed, and hang up outside decorations. I have a guest bathroom that needs the final touches of paint and caulking. The master bath is only half done. I have a few pictures to hang, but need to buy mats for them first. On Friday I have lunch plans and need to do a bit of shopping, and all day/night Saturday I have a party to attend (ugh).
Other than these things, which will not all get done, I need stuff to do. Does anyone have any ideas? We moved into the house last October and have no decorations, cheap ideas? I was all set to write a few stories to submit to JANE magazine, but it's folded. Any other magazines out there that pay well and accept personal (think hospital) stories? I'm all for educating the public on professional sexual exploitation/abuse - it'd be nice to get paid for it though.
Help?

You are to be commended. Good on you and enjoy your break. Love the cat.

I am loving my break, and barely feel any guilt about it. Other people from different departments are covering for me and I haven't had any phone calls yet! 4 more days, so sad.
