Utah Jazz at Boston Celtics

November 14th 2012 10:56
Recap from last night: Last nightís loss was a tough one to swallow. Washington shot the ball 84 times from the field and hit 29.8% of their shots while Charlotte shot the ball 78 times and hit 39.7% from the field. Both teams shot under 24% from beyond the arc. Those kind of numbers are not going to get a game to go over which we saw the game stay under last night. I am actually shocked that two teams that donít play that well on defense held the other in check. I move onto tonight and I am going to stay in the NBA again tonight. Here is what I like tonight.

Utah Jazz at Boston Celtics

Current Line: Boston -5.5
Current O/U Line: 193.5

Utah enters tonightís contests winners of three of their last four games after starting the season 1-3 while they have gone 3-1 ATS the last four games.

Utahís offense has been their strength this season averaging 100.8 points per game in which they are shooting 44.6% from the field and 34% from beyond the arc. The offense has a seen numerous guys step up when they have to, with six players averaging double figures in scoring this season. Leading the offensive charge for Utah is guard Mo Williams (16.9 PPG, 7.4 APG), forward Paul Millsap (15.6 PPG. 9.4 RBP) and Al Jefferson (15.2 PPG, 11.5 RPG).

On the defensive side of the ball it has been a different story for Utah this season. Utah is struggling to keep teams below the 100 point barrier. Eight games into the season and Utah has allowed four teams to score 103 or more points on them this season which have all come on the road. Utah is allowing 99.9 points per game on the season in which opponents are shooting 42.9% from the field against them and 35% from beyond the arc.

Boston enters tonightís game winning four of their last five in which they are just 2-3 ATS after back to back losses to open the season.

Boston is playing a much faster pace this season on the offensive side of the ball. Last season Boston averaged 93.6 possessions per game, now this season they are up to 97.9 possessions per game which goes to 102.1 possessions per game at home. This season Boston is averaging 97.3 points per game in which they are shooting 46.4% from the field and 34.3% from beyond the arc. A big key to Bostonís points per game is their 80% free throw shooting in which they attempt 25.3 free throws per game. Bostonís offense is led by Paul Pierce (19.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG), Kevin Garnett (15.9 PPG, 8.1 RPG) and Rajon Rondo (15.4 PPG, 12.9 APG, and 5.1 RPG).

The offense has not been an issue for Boston this season the defense on the other hand has struggled at times. Boston is allowing 98.9 points per game this season which is up from 89.1 points per game last season. Opponents are shooting 45.5% from the field against the Celtics this season and 36.3% from beyond the arc. For a team that has thrived on slow pace strong defensive games the last few seasons this is a big change for them.

Both of these teams are too goo offensively to shoot the ball like the two teams I played on last night. With both teams being able to score and the defensives not playing up to par we should see a higher scoring game. Over the last five games between these two teams we have seen higher scoring affairs with four of those five games going over the posted total. I think that is what we see tonight a game that ends up close to 200 total points scored.

Over 193.5 for 1 unit
