Upset Weekend in College Basketball

Five top 25 teams went down to defeat on Saturday in men's college basketball. The biggest eye-opener was third-ranked North Carolina falling to Florida State, 90-57.
Elsewhere, seventh-ranked Michigan State lost to Northwestern, 81-74. The Wildcats improved to 12-5, behind a great games from John Shurna and Davide Curletti. The two combined for 39 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Michigan State fell to 15-3 on the year. Draymond Green had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans.
22nd-ranked San Diego State beat 12th-ranked UNLV, 69-67 behind a spirited effort from point guard Jamaal Franklin who scored 24 points and had ten rebounds. Fellow guard James Rahon added 22 points in the game. Anthony Marshall scored 26 points for the Runnin' Rebels.
13th-ranked Michigan lost 75-59 to Iowa. The Wolverines fell behind in the early going, and couldn't recover. Iowa improved to 11-8 on the year. Matt Gatens led the Hawkeyes with 19 points, connecting on 4-7 three-pointers.
Then the final top-25 team to falter came out of the Big 12 conference. 18th-ranked Kansas State lost 82-73 to Oklahoma. Andrew Fitzgerald led the way for the Sooners with 21 points. Romero Osby and Steven Pledger each added 18 points. Rodney MacGruder scored 19 for Kansas State in the loss.
Florida State was ahead of the Tar Heels by eight points at halftime. The Seminoles erupted for a 30-8 run in the second half, taking a quick 66-36 lead and the rout was on from there. Deivadays Dulkeys led the Seminoles with 32 points. The Lithuanian was 8-10 from behind the three-point line. Tyler Zeller led North Carolina with 15 points.
