I Wish This Was 42 - by Dianna G

Update: Harry Potter and the Returning Internet.

July 25th 2007 06:05
I have my internet back.

And I read Harry Potter. Ages ago. Like, the day it came out. It's only 600 pages.

I grew up with Harry potter-I was seven when I got my first Harry Potter book, and mother read it out loud. I grew very attached to Harry Potter characters over time.

She killed two of my favourites in the most recent book, another favourite lost an ear, and the ending was the most conventional of convention. It was a copout, and sounded like badly written fanfiction.

I have no idea what to say. Other than that the book was great, much better than some of her old ones, until it hit page 510. The last hundred or so pages were rushed, frustrating, and murderous of awesome characters.

Best two lines in the book?

"After all this time?"
"Always."

Which can be really, really vague.

I loved Harry Potter-not the character, the series-and now it is over. I feel the same way I did after grad. Just plain odd.

Let's just hope JKR writes more in that world, if she writes anything else. Although I can't promise I'll read it, myself. I'm still unhappy with 7.

Hi Dianna, I felt a sense of loss after reading HP7. Like you, I read it in one day, careful not to browse the Internet too much the week prior because of all these spoilers being leaked. I hated the epilogue - hated it. I read that this was the very first thing JKR wrote and to me, it just felt out of place. I wanted so much to find out what the other characters were up to so the epilogue left me hollow. On a good note, I heard that JKR is planning an encyclopeadia to explain what happens to all the characters after the whole debacle so I can't wait to get my hands on that one. But until then, I'll just have to go back to my bookshelf and re-read the books.

It wasn't even that that got me worst, although it didn't seem to fit.

It was the death which resulted in those two lines I mentioned earlier.

I cried when that person died.
