Rocky's Running Diary - by edward

An U20 cross country and athletics runner, I took up club running two years ago for Randwick Botany Harriers, and train with Sean Williams' squad. Running plays a major part in my life; and this blog is a training diary in testament to that.

Current PBs:

800m - 2.12
1500m - 4.30
3k - 9.46
5k - 17.21
10k - 36.00
Queens Park 6k XC - 20.53
NSW AllSchools State XC 2005 U20s - 26th
National Cross Country 2006 U20s - 49th

Goals:

sub 2:10 800m (even sub 2:08)
4.25 1500m
sub 9.40 3k (even close to 9:30, idealy sub 9:30)
sub 17 min 5k (even 16.40)
sub 35:30 min 10k (even sub 35.00)
sub 80 min half

tuesday 17th - 10x500m

roughly

proper session finally, although felt a bit weird throughout, didnt have it all together still. felt a bit weak, especially arms and legs, and couldnt work hard. but had a couple of good reps and i hope thats promiscing fot the weekend and beyond.

im at a point where im not sure whether i should train more or less to get over this and into some good form. i thought after the camp it was fatigue, and it probably was, so i trained less, but either im still affected, or it hasnt worked. and yet training harder doesnt seem right either, when i still havnt got it all together.

i think im going to try to emphasise the tue/thurs sessions, and race hard on sat, to provide the good speed work for track season, then judge the other sessions by how i feel; if i feel good, have a couple of hard long runs in the week. but if i feel tired or weak, then back it off for that run in prep for the next speed session. i think the speed sessions are the main emphasis for the next couple of weeks, as long as im getting in one recovery jog and one decent longer run a week atleast.
