Is All Wisdom a Good Thing?

May 9th 2012 00:28

I have heard people say that “wisdom is wisdom, it's all good.” They would be wrong. But how can a person know this for sure? Let's go to scripture.
Heavenly Wisdom Versus Demonic Wisdom
James 3:13-18 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
Note: “Peace” is only achieved through Christ, or it is a delusion and can mislead. Furthermore peace should never be sought at the expense of truth (Hebrews 12). Sometimes peace can not be achieved, you can not get a long with all people, and the only real peace is found in true believers because it comes from our Father.

Romans 5:1 “Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”.

What Happens When I Die?

May 6th 2012 00:25

This is a question that is on a lot of minds. But, did you know that scripture answers all questions? It's true. Let's go through scripture and see what we can expect.

-We know that when the silver cord parts (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7), and we die then we immediately return to the Father. Why? Because all souls belong to Him (Ezekiel 18:4)- He made them.

-We know by the story of Lazarus and the rich man that there is a gulf in paradise (Luke 16:19-31). On one side, there are the souls that made it (the good) and on the other the souls that did not (the wicked or unbelievers). The gulf is uncrossable. It is a great torment to be able to look across that gulf and see the saints and know that you are not among them, that you are separated. Once a person notices this they, undoubtedly, are scared and they realize what they have done has led them to this point and there is no going back to fix their behavior.

-We know that there will be a “great white throne of judgment” where all people will be judged according to their deeds and according to the works in the flesh (Jeremiah 25:14).

Revelation 20:12-15 “And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Q. So, what is the “Book of Life”, and how do you get your name into it?
A. John 3:16-21 - “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

Q. Is it enough JUST to “believe” in God, then we get a free ride to heaven?
A. NO. Notice the scriptures above, the “deeds” are what shows your love and belief. Your actions in life are what reflects who you are and which master you serve. Another good place to understand this concept is James 2:19-20 - “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe - and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”

So now we know what it takes to get into the Book of Life and what will happen when we die. Remember: there are no excuses in heaven. There will be no way to con God. Your decisions and actions in life, that is to say “in the flesh”, is how you will be judged. Not on a mere thought that God exists and Jesus was His Son.

Revelation 3:5 - “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

The Fallen Angels

May 2nd 2012 00:15
Most people do not realize that the fallen angels will be coming back, when Satan is loosed a short period to tempt mankind. What will they be doing? What does scripture say about them? They are coming to pervert and tempt us. Let's look into scripture.

At some point in our lives we all have cried out to God that life is not fair. Even Christians have done it prior to learning scripture. But once we learn scripture, if we have faith (which we better or we are much of a Christian), we learn what God has said about our situations. This reminds us that all things have a purpose to refine us, shape us and teach us in order to make us into a better person.

Why Did God Favor Noah's Family?

April 22nd 2012 20:31

Countless people think they know the real story of Noah, the story that they have been taught in Sunday school is often much like the Sunday school version of the garden and the “partaking of the tree”. Many “teachers” would have people believe that Eve ate an apple and that was the sin in the garden, well along those same misleading and down right false teachings, the story of Noah also has become perverted in many circles of religion. Today let's read God's word instead of listening to mankind.

What is Repentance?

April 11th 2012 19:35

I have heard people ask this question often. So, today let's take a moment to address it. Repentance is not simply behaving as a broken record and saying “sorry” to God. Repentance is a sincere action and reaction. Remember that NO ONE can con God.
• Realizing that you have sinned and coming to terms with that sin. (Note: this does not mean try to hide your sin, blame shift your sin, or make excuses for your sin

Hello Antmat~ As I said from the time I started this bible study, I would not use it to further my own name, my own agenda, my educational accomplishments, etc. My life's details are meaningless. I am here strictly as a Christian, an ambassador for Christ, whose passion is sharing the biblical truths that most people are not taught. But, for your own curiosity, I will tell you that am a scholar of scripture and of the languages used in the original manuscripts. I have dedicated my life to learning and spreading God's Word. Any more information about "me" I feel would take away from my goal and mission to assist God in opening eyes, enlightening understanding and reminding the election of their duty here on earth during this time.

You see, I am of the belief that a person's history or education is pointless when God's Word is so capable and Jesus Christ has all the credentials to teach every soul. It is the Holy Trinity who teaches, I am merely a vessel that God uses to teach the word in love and guide people to understand that there is a supernatural Creator, our Father who loves them, and a bigger picture than what they could ever imagine. It is not "me" who leads and teaches but God who teaches through me; His word, His truth, His plan, not mine. Everything I teach comes directly from the word of God, not some man who has been taught a specific theology or doctrine- but biblical truths written by almighty God through the chosen, throughout time. His history and background are what is important here, nothing I could accomplish in my lifetime could ever scratch the surface of His knowledge, love, creativity, etc. Learn from Him, not from me.

I hope that satisfies your curiosity but I also hope that you understand that I will not use this platform to magnify myself in any way- that would go against my very principle. I am glad that you are learning more about scripture here and I pray that God is glorified.

Have a blessed day.

Comment by Truth B. Told
on Looking Forward to Hell?

December 18th 2011 15:12
I appreciate the long comment Lester- Very insightful for those who do not study often enough to know these things.

I have heard people say things to the effect of wanting to see a person they disliked roasting in hell. But, God loves His children and each person has been loved by someone. Scripture says that there is no suffering or sorrow- and watching people sizzle and scream would NOT be a peaceful heaven.

I think people forget how powerful God is. The blotting out refers to erasing our memories- we will have no clue who those people are after judgment when those who chose not to love God are cast into the lake of fire- it would be like they never existed, our memory of them will be blotted out.

Also, people do not realize that they will not roast there in pain and agony- they will be "turned to ashes from within" It is their eternity, but a short one. The "hell" I believe is the being on the wrong side of the gulf awaiting judgment day and knowing you did not make it. Seeing those with God and realizing that you are in with the most vilest offenders and evil people to have ever lived. Not being with God and in His presence but being separated by gulf you can not cross would be hell. The anticipation of knowing where your choices have led you has to be among the worst feelings ever. Weeping and gnashing of teeth, I think fill that side of paradise as they wait their final judgment and the sentence of death.

Thank you Lester, I always welcome and value your insights into scripture as well. God Bless you and your family during this Christmas season.

Thank you too SL, God Bless you as well =~)

You show your ignorance of scripture Fog, unfortunately. Your hatred and intolerance of Christians shows through your uneducated insults and incorrect references. Therefore, I "will not cast my pearls before swine" and argue points of Christianity when you do not care enough about it educate yourself before going on such a rant. Please learn something about this topic if you wish to have a serious discussion.

It's a wonderful thing when natural remedies are used, CMore. Pharmaceuticals usually carry side effects, some of which can be fatal. The risk isn't nearly so bad with natural things. I hope and pray the spider venom puts an end to breast cancer!

Hi Clarissa,
Thank you for your comment. My belief on helping others is that of old. I believe that it is the church who is responsible to help people and fulfill needs (not governments). James 2 talks a lot about a Christian's role to come to the aid of those in need and sums up my personal stance very well. You asked what I do in my daily life to help people- I usually don't like answering personal questions like this because it makes me feel like I am tooting my own horn but in this case I do believe you are seriously asking and before I answer, I would like to state that everything I do I don't do for my own glory but for my Father's Glory. All that I do is to bring honor to Him. I do work in my community, I take care of my neighbors who are aging, when a call for assistance comes into our church I and other Trustees show up to help the caller, when I see people struggle in any manner when I am out in public I assist as well as I can at that moment, I donate to missions and Christian charities, I provide food to the poor (when given the opportunity), and things of this nature. If there is a need that I know of and God has blessed me with the resources to aid the people in need, I do.

on A Common Misconception About the Creation of Man

September 3rd 2011 20:16
The Bible is God's letter to everyone, Lester. For much too long it has only been studied by a few, and some of them have not taught it as it reads, adding their own ideas as truth. It is so important that we know what God's Word is, especially now.

Good idea, Anonymous. No one knows the time of the Lord's return, we must be ready, always.

on LIE: Jesus was ALL about Love and Forgiveness

January 7th 2011 20:24
Thank you for commenting. I appreciate all questions as we all have them. The only way to fully understand scripture is through questioning and clarification. It is not through insults, self righteousness or indignation.

God shows us how very loving and kind He is to those who are His children which is to say those who choose to follow Him. This is why He sent His Son to offer to us a New Covenant, which is salvation and a pardon for our sins through the life, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Even though we are saved by His grace we must keep ourselves from sin, and if we still sin we must repent and sin no more.

First, let me start by addressing the commandment issue. There are commandments and there are directions in the bible. Therefore, the instruction of what to eat and what not to eat are for our benefit. They are instructions for keeping our bodies healthy and safe. I have not found a scripture yet that says you are going to go to hell for eating them, but they are going to hurt your body, your “temple”. For instance you mentioned pork. In biblical times people had no clue whatsoever about the harmful effects of pork. We do now of course, but God had said this to people because it would be harmful to them. The meat is unclean and causes an array of health problems. He wishes for that not to occur.

So, just as we have rules for our children, God has such with us. Now in that frame of thinking, we as parents, have rules for safety to keep our children healthy and happy and if they disobey they will get hurt through their own ignorant or rebellious actions but we are not going to disown them or any such thing. So, it is important to discern the instruction for living from the actual commandments. God knew what He was doing when He said what not to eat, and He did so for our benefit. Imagine all of the heart attacks from eating unclean foods such as pork. Those people have cut their lives short and were not able to live out the extent of a healthy life as a result of it.

Now, in addition to this clarification, and indeed we were told in the Old Testament that these foods are unclean and not to eat them, a New Covenant was made between God and man. In the New Testament some restrictions, including food had been lifted. The food has been sanctified when Christ came back to fulfill prophesy and we entered into a new agreement, we were then allowed to eat restricted food because it was made clean as long as we eat it with thanksgiving to God (1 Timothy 4): “For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.”

Matthew 19:
Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

As for the abortion issue, the text you referred to has to deal with an accidental miscarriage through a non-lethal action. Scripture has repeatedly associated the unborn with the term “child” and other scriptures stating that God knows us even before we are born when He forms us and he sows us in our mother's wombs, etc. But this specific paraphrasing has to do with something altogether different. It doesn't say in the bible that anyone who accidentally kills another person shall be put to death. Killing a person, with the malicious intent to kill that person is murder. Therefore, abortion is murder as the mother full well knows that the act she is about to do will kill her unborn child. It is not an accident or a miscarriage resulting from another “non-lethal” action.

To properly quote the Old Testament in reference to the text used in your comment:
Exodus 21:12-14
“Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death. However, if it is not done intentionally, but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate. But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately, that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death.

Exodus 21:22-25
“If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

To properly quote the New Testament in regards to Christ's position on the commandments:
In Matthew, Jesus says:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.”

As far as your comment: “I am simply pointing out how Christianity is not an absolute and is prone to change. It must change. If it does not, then, like water, it will stagnate and be poisonous.”

Christianity IS absolute: Matthew 12:30
ALL scripture shall be used for teaching as it is written- It shall NOT be changed: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Never Change God's Word: Deut. 4:2, Deut 12:32, Galatians 1:9, Proverbs 30:5-6, Revelations 22:18-19
You see, if you claim to be a Christian than you should uphold all of scripture and not change it.
