Treading lightly to lunch

A place to write, to paint, to think;
Pushing away daily habits
For the clearing. For the evening
To reflect after stories told;
To be wary of getting old
And misplacing treasures adored.
It’s easy to leave life behind,
To pick it up again one day
When all is right. To remember
How it feels to create anon
And hoping, slightly, someone sees
A little more than thought, than light
And mentions your name to a friend
Who then wants to see you, again.
After lunch, when you want to doze
You can see the steps you have taken
To get to this table. This lunch.
You did not know how you would feel,
How happy you would be. This lunch.
When you dreamed you saw all the stars;
You became intoxicated.
So many choices, many ways.
But you did not know of this lunch;
How happy this lunch would make you.
Here, all those treasures are with you.
You tended the garden; grew fruit,
And cleared a table for your thoughts,
And cleared a table for your life.
A space to be a place; painted.
A place to be painted; a space.
A clearing: to write, paint, and think.
A clearing that is yours to share.
