Today Laveranues Coles and Jericho Cotchery did a happy dance along with the rest of the Jet's Nation - they finally have a relevant quarterback.
For fantasy football this could mean big things for several of the Jets offensive weapons. Laveranues Coles became a deep threat again. Favre still has a cannon for an arm and will be able to connect accurately with Coles down the field for some big gains. I would expect Mangini to exploit defenses with this connection often.
Jericho Cotchery will also benefit from Favre's presence. Though Cotchery will not burn you down the field, he does have good hands and is often the over-the-middle target in the passing game. When Favre's Packers needed a first down he could always find his most sure handed targets. You can count on Cotchery being that taret this year for the Jets.
Since the offensive line has made some improvements with the addition of Alan Faneca this off season and the development of D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Favre should have some time to find Coles and Cotchery.
The running game just improved as well. Being that the Jets have a relevant passing game and an offensive line this will allow Thomas Jones to become more of a factor in the weekly game plan. Jones is not a bad #2 option at RB this year. He should be able to gain 1,000 yards easily and a few more touchdowns than that single TD from last year.
You probably don't want to pick up any of these guys in the first 5 rounds of your draft or auction, but keep an eye on them. Each player, including Favre, will be great #2 guys at their position and could be part of your winning fantasy team.
Well, it seems that McCain has figured out how to get press coverage...attack Obama. Following a week where Barack Obama was front page, top story on all news papers and news programs McCain must have felt left out. So, what would any attention hungry politician running for President do? Yep, create a bogus attack ad to get people talking.
In the ad McCain tries to paint Obama as a mere celebrity, not a leader, who wants to increase taxes and continue to rely on foreign oil sources. There is some truth to the ad...Obama is a celebrity, a rock star if you will. He packs his 'venues' with a diverse population of Americans. Black, White, Asian, Latino, male/female, gay/straight, old/young, and the list goes on. Turn on a McCain 'rally' and look at McCains appeal to America...a majority of white senior citizens dominate the crowd. America is a diverse nation. Our nations leader should be someone who is able to captivate the masses, not just the masses of white Americans.
To say the other claims are misconstrued would be an understatement. Yes, Obama has stated publicly that he is against off-shore drilling, but not because he advocates dependence on foreign oil. Alternate energies, not oil, are the future of American energy. Expanding off-shore drilling would not do anything to help solve our energy crisis in the short term or long term.
Regardless of who is elected President this year they will be faced with a tough, always unpopular decision to raise taxes. There is simply no way around it. The Bush administration has dug a hole that we will not be able to get out of unless taxes are increased. So, raising taxes is likely, but McCain will probably have to raise them as well.
Its just really sad that it had to come to this. I suppose it was inevitable, but I think we had all hoped that the attacks would stay above the belt. Good work on finding a way to get on TV, McCain. I hope the next time I hear your name it is for something other than you whining about how unpopular you are.
Ted Stevens, Republican - Alaska , was indicted Tuesday on charges of lying about gifts he received from Bill Allen, the former head of Veco, a now inoperative Alaskan oil and construction company. This indictment comes roughly one year after his Alaskan home was raided by Federal Agents as part of an investigation after Bill Allen, a major contributor to Senator Stevens, pleaded guilty to bribing state officials.
According to a CNN report, a contractor that worked on the renovations to Senator Stevens Alaskan home sent his bills directly to Veco, not Senator Stevens.
The indictment, however, does not charge Stevens with bribery, but does charge him with seven felony accounts of making false statements on his mandatory financial disclosure records, which are filed under the penalty of perjury. The total amount in question, including the renovations to his home and an unequal auto exchange, is in excess of 250,000 dollars. Stevens has stepped down from leadership positions he held in the Senate following the indictment.
Though Senator Stevens has maintained his innocence through the whole ordeal it now seems likely that he has been caught in a lie that he can not get out of. The Republican Party, which is already fighting an image of being too friendly with big oil companies, now has to face the fact that the longest serving Republican Senator in history seems to personify the image that many Americans have of the Party old, white, and at the mercy of oil executives.
John McCain must address Ted Stevens indictment. Corruption is the very issue he has talked so much about during his Presidential campaign and he has not yet capitalized. Hopefully, for his sake, McCain has his top speech writer locked in a room until he writes the perfect speech to address this or else he will lose out on a great opportunity to show America how he is a different and trustworthy Republican.
This is a win-win for McCain. He has the chance to say whatever he wants about a fellow Republican without anyone who may be otherwise offended by his comments being able to react publically for fear of a backlash on them. Hurry Senator McCain. This is the moment you have been waiting for.

Barack Obama has announced that he will opt out of public campaign funds and raise his own money for the general election. Needless to say this decision has caught the eye of politicians, pundits, bloggers, voters, and his opposition. Has Obama flip-flopped on campaign reform or has he issued a challenge to the McCain campaign?
The McCain camp has accused Senator Obama of breaking a promise to accept the public money that is set aside for the general election. Obama has said he would aggressively pursue the use of the 84 million dollar fund generated by $3 donations made when filing taxes in a blog in USA Today just this past February.
With gas prices being a hot issue in the upcoming election it seems that everyone is scrambling to find a solution to sell to voters. John McCain and President Bush have both proposed that the rising price of oil can be counterbalanced by lifting the moratorium on offshore drilling. Is it really that simple? All we have to do is drill more? The answer is, No. It is not that simple
