Traveling to Tanzania

Back in November of 2005, my family of 8 and I traveled from St. Louis, Mo to Tanzania, Africa. Just the trip going there was an experience to remember let alone living there for 14 months and the trip back.
The cost of the plane tickets with seven being one way and one of them round trip was between nine and ten thousand dollars. I think that is rather expensive but it was the cheapest we could find at that time of year. I believe we departed a few days after Thanksgiving.
We went through a rigorous security check at Lambert airport, St. Louis. I was wondering if they were going to look inside my eight month old daughter's diaper. I had heard horror stories about that. They didn't but they did look through her blankets covering her and her clothing she was wearing.
We finally boarded the plane. Once established in our seats, we sat there waiting for the plane to take off for approximately an hour and a half. There were all kinds of excuses that the pilot was announcing. One was that they had someone's luggage but the passenger wasn't on the plane. They were trying to locate the passenger. Another was that in Chicago the weather was bad because of the snow. We had a lay over in Chicago. In Chicago we would be boarding British airways to travel to London and transfer again to the British Airways plane that would bring us to Tanzania.
We finally made it to Chicago. We arrived 15 minutes before our British Airways flight was to leave for London. The terminal was clear across to the other side of the airport. We missed the flight and they paid for our hotel room for the night because it was their fault. Our flight was re-booked for the following day.
To be continued..........
