Howdy everyone. I am still a TOKENSPARKer, but, as I am currently living in Iceland for a one-month intensive course, the majority of my efforts while be put to the classwork and to updating my dedicated Iceland blog at

http://nightless.net.

Do check it out. Look for me here, though -- I haven't abandoned Orble.

Hot Sexy Japan McDonalds & BEER

My travel buddy, Chris, is cursed with a seriously discerning palette. Throughout the course of our travels in Japan, the poor guy couldn't stomach hardly anything. Now, why it is that he *could* stomach KFC/McDonald's/Friday's I've no idea; those names don't immediately conjure associations of gastronomic gallantry by any means.

Well, one night in Yokohama we were quite tired, and we were told there was a fabulous capsule hotel in the area -- I had the info from 'teh internets' and everything! Even thought I speak some Japanese, we were having a hell of a time finding it.

So, we stopped in for some McDonalds. Well, he did. I wound up with some convenience store food. I had to order for him, though.

Anyway, check out the design of this Micky D's! Some seriously sexy hamburger environs, yo! Oh, and that poster in the back is for a "Tamago Double Mac" -- can you guess what's on it? (Brenton, maybe?)

American food, Swedish design, Japanese methodology.

We never did find the capsule.

We did spy this pub, though, which we returned to the next day. Chris likes beer. Thank GOD.

$9 pints. Ouch. But: YUM!

Video Games and Trains

Two of my favorite things!

So, there're no really good stories behind this, but I did have a lovely time taking pictures through train windows and from train platforms.

I believe all of these were taken in Tokyo.

Oh, and yes, they're advertising the Virtual Console in the Wii. It's a lovely idea, really. I'm glad it allows horribly underrated companies like Hudson Soft catch a few dollars and yen. But for those of you that're climbing onto the retro wave but don't have the original the hardware (or are too disinterested to actually go acquire the hardware): fuck you. Really.

Ann's House

Last Night in Japan, Part Two.

Ironically, I had promised this Japanese guy that I wouldn't forget his name -- but I have. I believe it was Satoshi, though I am not certain

A crazy last night.

OK. Well. I'm sorry it took so long to update this. I have several other projects I'm working on between trying to teach myself Icelandic and work 60-hour workweeks between Sony & Starbucks.

I'll try to post a memoir post on a roughly-daily basis until I'm exhausted

Augh! Minor hiatus. Good Widgets. Domain blog. JAPAN!

Hello. I have jetlag. And two jobs. And difficulty deciding on relevant post titles.

So, while I have a juicy list of entries planned to round out this blog, I'm afraid I'm going to need awhile longer yet before they find their way up here in all their prosaic glory

Chiba!

Well, here I am using the computer of famed UCSD Summit alum Ramon Celosia. It's great to be hanging out in a Japanese house (though not really a Japanese home), and to not only be learning about English conversation teacher life, but, obviously, to be catching up with Ramon as well.

Being here in the suburbs is great -- not nearly as hectic as Tokyo itself. And, being that it's the suburbs, it would seem that local venture capital tries very hard to emulate the feel of American suburbian contentedness

In 10 Tokyo minutes...

... a lot can happen, believe me.
I have 10 minutes to post to this blog -- but, unlike Tokyo, I do not operate at waapu supeedo.
I will also award myself the Ass Award for failing to think of much to say that is deep, academic, pedantic, metaphysical, thought-provoking, eloquent, or otherwise theoretically of any worth
