With Jim Ross’ latest short-term WWE contract extension set to expire on April 30th, talk is heating up once again that JR could be headed to TNA. According to a reliable source in TNA, the company plans to make Jim Ross a “very serious” big money offer once he becomes a free agent.
Ross indicated on his official website this past week that he’s in “wait and see” mode on whether he will continue working for WWE when his contract extension expires.
“The matter will likely play out in the next couple of weeks. It isn’t something that I fixate on I assure you. Whatever happens will happen,” Ross wrote. “Some matter are out of my control so I don’t worry about them.”
Related to not being put back on the air as an announcer in WWE, Ross said it’s on WWE, but he doesn’t believe he’s called his last show as an announcer.
“It is WWE’s decision to not use me as an on air talent. That was not my preference. Time will tell if I remain in WWE in a new area or not. We’ll know within two weeks or so,” Ross said. “I have many options that interest me. I feel confident that I will broadcast other events but they might well not be in pro wrestling.”
Ross added: “WWE says that they want to reassign me to another area and they choose not to use me on air. I have yet to hear the details of the new assignment but expect to some. Yes, my contract is up April 30. No, I have not broadcast my last event.”
