Tips to Help You Optimize Your Website Images Effectively

The images you use throughout your website are beneficial in the optimization process. If you think of your images a tiny webpages, then optimizing them make perfect sense. You can optimize their anchor text and url structure just like any webpage. By doing so, search engines will drive traffic to your site through image search.
Following are some tips to help you optimize your images:
• Use the right image. Images can bring life to your website and add a dimension that makes visitors share the page. You can find some fantastic images for your site at Flickr, Microsoft and iStockPhoto. Only use images that are creative common licensed. If you don’t have permission to use it, don’t!
• Be sure to use your keyword phrase in the image file name.It will help search engines establish relevance.
• Use descriptive alt text for your images. Alt text helps search engine bots determine what the image is. Captions are also helpful.
• Use anchor text for your image. Linking to images with anchor text using relevant keywords, is helpful to search engines when they are indexing your page’s content.
• Make sure that your content and image match. Make sure the image is related to the tags and image url. This will simply confirm that your image is not spam.
• Keyword stuffing is a no-no. All your captions, alt tags, and file names should be short and descriptive. Never use a laundry list of keywords.
