thursday 12th - 400s

October 12th 2006 03:35
session was done at uni at a nice peaceful oval at the back.

went 400, (45 secs), 400, (45 secs), 400, (45 secs), 400, (90 secs), 400, (60 secs), 400, (90 secs), 400, (45 secs), 200.

times were 1:18, 1:16, 1:17, 1:18; 1:12, 1:16; 1:13, un-timed 200.

rough 400m track, pretty close but not 100%, so times might be give or take a second or two. but it's all about the effort, especially when coming back from camp. will find a marked oval for next week.

very hot today! 31 degrees.
felt pretty good during the warm up, still a bit sore from camp but not that bad, not nearly as bad as yesterday. however id felt tired and lethargic and weak most of the day, and fell asleep in a lecture. was worried i might be getting sick (as i always am) but after the session feel better, and am pretty sure its all fine, just still exhausted from the camp and need even mroe sleep.

session was originally 8x400m (45 secs) but during the first four like this i was feeling lethargic and not really moving properly. decided i was just tiring myself out doing bland 400s with not real benifit, so decided to double the recovery to 90 secs, and try to run faster. this worked, and i backed up the first one with another 400 off shorter recovery. another 90 secs and then another 400, faster again but still not getting good turnover. then did a 200 witht eh first 100 at 400m pace, then the second 100 flat out at close to 100m pace; so a good kick down. started to get the legs turning over, but still my calves wernt strong enough to really power home/sprint at all.

still happy i managed the entire session, even though it was kinda reworked, after such a hard camp.

started feeling really tired and sore at the end of session and in the warm down, and just finished off with 2k so as not to be too tired for the weekend. going for a good one around queens park.
