There’s an evil voice inside my head

There’s an evil voice inside my head, “Bring on the financial crisis” it screams …
I think it started when a friend of mine commented that she had recently visited friends and ex-co-workers of ours at a News Limited paper.
She was shocked at the way the current financial crisis was affecting even the likes of Rupert Murdoch’s great empire, after learning of the skeleton-crew plans for our old office over the holiday period.
“It’s scary when it’s people that you know” she said referring to acquaintances who have been forced to take unpaid leave over the Christmas holiday period.
We continued to dwell on the sad fact that although tycoons such as Rupert Murdoch and Kerry Stokes make such excessive profits every year, their hungry cravings are never sated.
They are not merely content to make a big profit, they must exceed the profit of the previous year by X%.
I think it was about then when this crazy little anarchist deep inside my head started clapping its hands and laughing like a mad-man.
“Money is killing itself!” it announced with glee, as it spread its hands across my mind and showed me a vision of what could possibly be.
“The Tower of Power comes tumbling down. The great dividing wall, the keeper of classes turns to dust.”
The mischievous sprite sings as it dances around my brain.
“People will lose their jobs, unemployment will rise, the demand on welfare will increase, but all ‘spare’ money will have been invested in fruitless plans to save banks and industry.
“Industry will be doomed anyway because demand will decrease as people have less money and credit ain’t so easy to get!
“The chain-reaction goes full circle, more jobs are cut, more unemployed, less productivity, people live in poverty…
“But, I just don’t see it staying like that!” – my mad little parasite yells.
“Out of necessity comes change, out of hardship comes strength. People have come too far, there is too much technology to go back now. We can not live like they did during the Great Depression. We know too much, have too many skills and tools at our disposal.
“Money doesn’t run those machines. Money doesn’t actually do anything. It is merely an incentive to entice the human being into action, and to keep the balance of power and classes in society.
“When people are forced to live without a drug they are addicted to, they get over it and usually find a better quality of life and a whole new sense of freedom.
“When people are forced to live without money … well, perhaps they will see just how pointless it has always been in their lives.
“There could be a dividing of people, the tattered remains of the consumer-driven capitalist system we know today, and a new movement of people living in a money-free, skill-trade society.
“What better a time, what better a way to finally make the changes the human race so desperately needs - that those in charge have blocked for so long.”
And again the mad little parasite does a crazy dance and giggles like a gremlin, before turning quite nasty in it’s tone…
“And boo to all those living in the lap of luxury, all those suppressing and holding power over others. I like to imagine you clutching at your worthless millions as you crumple on your beds, trying to comprehend that you are no longer above others, that your money means shit!”
“Now, now little anarchist, be nice,’’ I chastise.
And it purrs …
“What a perfectly balanced ironic Karma, that greed should see money’s demise.”

The power of money is also its flaw, I guess, by creating the idea of value.
