The Yesterday and Today World
May 30th 2008 01:13
Yesterday we worried about fucking up the world,
By using polystyrene containers and nondegradable chemicals,
Those damage the ozone layer.
Today we’re the ones fucking up the world,
With lone gunmen and terrorists,
Who kill peace and humanity in one moment.
Yesterday we thought “Sunday Bloody Sunday” was just a song,
Which reminded us that we live in better times,
Without political bombings and shootings.
Today we are seeing for ourselves the tragedies,
That we thought could never happen again,
But they are reoccurring time after time again.
Yesterday we taught our children stranger danger,
And to say no to drugs,
So they could grow up safely.
Today we are teaching our children about the world’s safety,
To reinforce that Australia’s safe,
Even from the castrophes shown on TV.
Yesterday we prayed solemnly about inconsequential events,
Asking for personal favours,
To fulfil our hopes and dreams.
Today we are praying ceremonially for a divine intervention,
To change the rate of evil,
So that good prevails in the end.
