The Walrus
June 22nd 2008 03:02
After your Daddy deserted you,
And your Mummy was run over by a drunken policeman,
Aunt Mimi became your family,
Where she nurtured you and your musical talents.
Come the year of 1960 you became a band member,
And the song of rock ‘n roll,
You became the walrus.
You had a rollercoaster ride on the yellow submarine,
And told everyone that they could ride in your car,
Then after eleven years the phenomenon ended,
As another chapter unravelled.
You pulled out your heart and showed it to the world,
Singing and protesting for love and peace
You wooed and motivated many hearts,
In such a way that they’re still following in your footsteps.
You sang and believed all people needed was love,
You and Yoko even stayed in bed in the name of it,
You had compassion and respect for all religions,
And weren’t afraid to say so.
On one sad day we lost you,
To the insanity of a man with a loaded gun,
Shortly after his five shots you were dead,
But no one could take away your everlasting words from us.
