I really cannot tolerate a liar. I would rather someone told me I was uglier than sin and smelled to high heaven than to have them lie to me.
I have been divorced 35 years and the seven years I was with him, my ex husband ran after everything in pantyhose. Looking back, I realize (although I hated the thought of him sleeping with other women) I left him because he lied to me. I thought he loved me and that we could tell each other anything. Being lied to, made me feel as though he never cared for me at all, and killed every tender feeling I'd ever had for him. I have been with a man for 14 years, and I've never caught him in a lie.
I am also a huge fan of truth in advertising. There are so many infomercials out there now, it makes a person wonder if all of them are for real. I usually don't order from the infomercials, but a few years back, I ordered a small vacuum cleaner that was advertised quite a bit at the time. I thought it was a nifty idea, until I got it home and tried to use it. While it was lighter, and easier to handle, the cleaning was limited because the dirt receptacle was so small. I spent more time cleaning the thing out, than I did cleaning with it. They could have mentioned this detail but chose to leave it out. To me that is a lie by omission.
I guess I lose a bit of respect for those I catch in a lie, I just don't feel it is necessary. I know there are those who would rather be lied to than learn the truth. How about you? Are you into the truth?
