The Tears of a Child

Small child
full of tears,
let me hold you.

Come, let me hold you
against my chest.

"Shhhh..." I whisper softly
stroking beautiful strawberry hair.

"Listen to my heartbeat deep inside.."

My heartbeat begins
to drown out his ten year old
fear.

It is strong and healthy...
it will not stop and leave him

Motherless.
