The Swine Flu's Not So Bad eh?

You know, its truly amazing to think that this country was at an alert level 5, which meant that we were thinking about shutting down borders and stopping anyone from coming in or going out.
Who would have thought that this new flu would be just about as potent as any old flu bug, and that the deaths in mexico were more due to poor health care and poverty, then they were to actualy flu itself.
The US had sent out anti-viral meds like they expected a black plague to hit and wipe out hald the nation. Were they hoping?
In all of the cases that have surfaced in unusual and unconnected places, very few have caused anything more serious than a hot head and achey muscles. Not to mention, many of the 'suspected' cases of swine flu turned out to be from hypochondriacs, and its not like anyone couldn't have guessed they would get sick first. Unfortunately, making yourself sick through shear belief does not make up for actual results, and that meant that the researchers had to go back and see who was faking and who was really sick.
Those who were really sick may have spent a small amount of time under the microscope, but they got over it as they would any other form of influenza. They had their contagious stage, coughed and spluttered on other people, and yet and still, the numbers are so low that it has researchers puzzled.
"Maybe this 'swine flu', isn't a pandemic like we thought it would be", they said to the news stations. Its just another bug that is no worse then seasonal flu's, and can easily be cured by seeing a doctor, or eating some chicken soup.
I am glad the US is somewhat prepared for a world wide plague, but do we really need to point and A-Bomb at an ant hill? Maybe next time we could be prepared, but not issue out nightly warnings that people should start getting on the bubble suits. Maybe?
