THE STALKER

What would you do if someone followed you everywhere. Whenever you left the house they would follow you and confront you. I know some people crave attention, but this kind of attention is just not right.
I had a guy follow me, telling me he loved me and wanted to marry me. I had only seen him once, when I was introduced to him by a friend. He found out where I lived and, at first, would come by my house at odd hours. He made it clear from the start that he would not take no for an answer.
After a couple of months of this, I went to the police. On my first visit to the police station, I was told by a very crass officer that, unless I was attacked, they could do nothing about it. He made me feel that I was the one at fault, and I should give this guy a chance and accept a date with him. The officer must have been a member of the "BOYS" club. You know, the one with the motto-"As long as your male you can do what you want".
This guy continued to be everywhere I was and when I was home, he was parked nearby or across the street, waiting for me to leave, so he could follow. He didn't come to my door any more because I had threatened him with bodily harm- and I meant it!
Another month went by, and I was frantic. I finally called the police department and asked to speak to someone in sex crimes. A woman answered-Thank God- and when I told her the problem, she made an appointment for me to come in to see her that afternoon.
Wouldn't you know, the devil followed me there. Since he had never tried to hide the fact he followed me, I could see him as he pulled into a parking spot across the street.
I walked into the station and asked for the woman. When she came out I took her to the window and showed her the stalker. She walked back to the bull pen and spoke to an officer. He and another officer went outside and came back in with the stalker in cuffs.
It is against the law to stalk another person and he was arrested for it.
He was forbidden to come close to me, but he made sure he was still around. I finally took him to court and sued him. He lost! Not only does he stay away from me completely, He has to pay me to the tune of $1500 a month.
What would you do in this situation, let me know what I could have done differently.
