The Race Card: A Really Bad Deck !!
Category: News and Politics
White America finds itself ina rather interesting quandry and frankly, I'm somewhat amused. It's FINALLY being forced to look in the mirror in order to answer some tough questions.
I remember conversations with my so - called liberal friends. In their attempt to be politically correct, they would whisper, or say something stupid like "uh no offense but...", all before saying the word "Black". I laughed because I had to point out to these idiots that "Black is what I am" and I took great offense to their feeble attempts at being "the progressive White person". It's an identifying characteristic.
Now that a Black Man (his own description) is on the cusp of being this nation's President, the eyes of not only the Black community, but the world community as well are upon them...all of us to be more accurate, to see how this country that was founded on racism and built on racism will react. White America DOES have something to prove and it's White America that put itself in this position.
Now remember, it was the White candidate that injected race into the primary campaign. Not as a means of bridging a gap, but an attempt to further be divisive. Luckily, MOST of America saw through it.
The sad thing is in fact, it's difficult to take some Whites at their word when they speak against Senator Obama even when they offer sincere debate about legitimate issues. The reason ? Black America has a very LONG memory and has forgiven many things, except RACISM.
No one wants to bear the label of "racist" even if they truly are. It's simply not a good look. As far as Obama's being "too Black" or "not Black Enough", I say fuck everyone, BLACK & WHITE that's ever made that dumbass statement. I've had my Blackness questioned by people who ultimately aren't worth the small piece of dog shit that gets caught in the sole of your sneaker.
I think what's happening now is an overcorrection in another lame attempt to be politically correct in some cases, and in others, an attempt to negate the fact that Barack Obama is a Black Man running for President. The racist is the one who, when talking about Obama being Black, has some snide, less than clever, straight out of the "How Many More Ways Can I Make White People Look Bad Besides Marrying My Sister" category on "Jeopardy".
It's OKAY to acknowledge that you have a Black Man running for President. Just be careful of the context in which you say it. I know some of you will read this post and accuse ME of being a racist. Please note that not one derrogatory thing has been said about White people...okay besides the racist.
If you want better insight, why not ask a Black Person you know is reasonably intellegent why they feel as proud as they do about Obama's candidacy. You'll get different reactions I'm sure. Then think about the fact that if this country had dealt fairly with Blacks and displayed any kind of honor in the first place, Barack Obama being Black would be pretty much a side note.
