the possibility of an island

Are you sitting comfortably? I think it's important. So many people sit at their computers at a desk on an office chair. What, are you at work? Do you sit in front of the TV like that? Do you sit like that at a picnic? Do you sit like that when you are hanging out with your friends? Do you sit like that when you are having a good time? I'm not saying that posture effects your state of mind, I'm saying that it is an indicator of your state of mind, allows us to see what assumptions you are holding about your situation.
As you read these words, as you hear them sounding in your head, who is talking? You or me? We would tend to say that it's me talking, I wrote the words, after all. But this would seem strange on further inspection, since the voice is decidedly in your head. It is unmistakably your voice, your tone, your emphasis, your brain. If it is me talking, then I am talking from within you, as you. Am I performing some form of telepathy? Using my mind to alter your mind? This is precisely what communication is, but we don't often think of it in this way, we think of my brain with an arrow to my throat and lungs with an arrow coming out of my mouth and into your ear and to your brain. But really the two brains are affecting each other directly, they need not be mediated by successive compressions of air, or the variations between a small snippet of the EM spectrum, except by a fluke of evolution these evolved as a way of perceiving things. If we had an organ which could produce controlled pulses of EM waves, not necessarily in the visible light range, just like we have organs for creating waves of air, and if we had an organ for perceiving those waves and taking messages about the waves into the brain, just as we have for vibrations in the air, then we'd have a whole new way of talking to each other.
I'm a big fan of fidgeting. Well not nervous fidgeting, but my hands are often busy, twirling pens and whatnot. I'm a big fan of things which subtly click into place, but my main passion can be widely categorised as circular based motion (it's best when more than one circular cycle is at play, like spinning a cup on a point by twirling it with your finger inside the rim) another favourite of mine, which is only ever practised in private, is holding a rope or chord with a hanging weight and spinning it, the rope curves into an 'S' and appears to be rotating about a point at the bottom right curve of the S, anybody who's done this will know what I;m talking about. But I doubt that any such person would ever be reading this. Does this mean that for whomever reads this, they are receiving me at my truest self? Since It is unmistakably me talking?
