The Perfect Imperfect Child
October 4th 2008 00:39
Your nerves are like a jungle gym
Kids climb all over you until you give in
But don’t forget that when you do,
You will end up hurting them too
Frustrations get you all a fluster
Trying to calm your nerves with all you can muster
Children don’t have as much control or might
They kick and scream and put up quite a fight
Every child, I assure you, knows
That their parents love them so
What the parent may be unaware
Is that the child really does care
Don’t take harsh words so personally
They are still growing their vocabulary
Just like a poet trying to find the right words to say
Their attempts to vent sometimes go awry
Every child is capable of endless love
As each unique child is sent from above
Treat them right, care must be shown
A friend for life you can get, this is known

Note: I just felt like posting this one today I wrote it earlier in the year for my sister in law. She was having trouble getting along or even really liking her own children. I hope this helped her understand and bond better with her daughter. Yeah I know, it is kind of a lame poem but I hope it at least was heartfelt enough to make a difference in their family.

It sounds very much from the heart to me.
