The New Dynasty - Warring States
February 1st 2008 05:52
The choice words of the ideal propaganda are terms such as: "Freedom","Equality" and "Liberty". Though they are highly rationalized and generalized to tactically inspire but not engage. It is assumed that by living under the flag of such a nation or state that you are not only granted these things but that you are one with them. I will not declare this assumption false. However I will now draw upon the unseen facts of that which is essentially free.
1. Picking Sides:
Despite the intense focus on the individual that society in the United States seems to express we actually have very little power vested in the individual man or woman. Never in the history of the country has a person not endorsed by either the Democratic or Republican party been elected President. In fact you'd be hard pressed to find many people holding any office at all who are not affiliated with one of those two reigning parties. How free is a population who is forced to select one of two competing sides to gain entry into a "free" nation's governing forces?
2. Royals and Riches:
With the upcoming 08' election it's worth noting just how much money the prospective candidates are spending on their campaigns. While some have spent more than others and in certain cases - more than would have been fiscally wise - they all far outrank what would be comfortably within scope of any non-elite citizen. According to a PQ Media report web based spending on Political Campaigns should hit and surpass 73 Million dollars in 08'. That's a ton of money. I beg the point - couldn't 73 million dollars be more wisely invested in any of our government programs or crippled economy, rather than election advertising???
3. Copy / Paste / Print:
Perhaps most interesting of all is the fact that despite mild variations all of our leaders come from the same background. I don't mean that in the sense that they all come from the same neighborhood or state. I mean that in terms of that they all have either a business or political past and are hard-wired to the system already. This kind of connection and experience has not so much prepared them to lead a country but to comply with the establishment. All of our candidates and presidents represent people who know the political game and are willing to play it. Usually not to the favor of the people or the union.
Regardless of how much hope and inspiration your candidate of choice injects into your veins this year they're no different from the past. Take it from history, the "I'm going to change things." line has been spewed before and it's hollow and brittle inside. The capacity for a President to change anything rely's strongly on their character and morality. Their ability to withstand the established super-powers in Washington. Any seasoned Politician is already desensitized to the corruption and nature of these powers and is thus and ineffective agent of change.
Consider these things next time you pledge your allegiance.
