The Natural Order - by signals

The Natural Order - November 2008

Kyoto Fiasco

November 16th 2008 22:47
The United States has been scorned by many for not signing Kyoto Protocol(Treaty). Today, contrary to popular belief, the nations that signed it are not holding up their side of the bargain to reduce carbon emissions which leads to greenhouse gas pollution.

Seems that the real objective of the treaty is to produce 'green' in the money variety. Now the nations that failed are looking into alternative ways to comply without being penalized. The goals are not possible and the permits the nations must buy are expensive.

People keep forgetting that they can't control nature. If they could it would be 70 F and sunny and mild all over the world. For once, I'm glad my tax dollars were spared from a pipe-dream-pyramid-scheme!

Lesbian Koalas

November 13th 2008 23:08
If you think homosexuality is something new, guess again. It does seem to occur more when an animal is held in captivity. As a child, I had 2 female parakeets that mated and laid eggs that never hatched. Maybe I should say they went through the motions of 'mating'.

From an article in February 2007, Australia captive female koalas prefer homosexuality 3 to 1 to heterosexuality. Some engage in orgies with up to five females engaging in homosexual activity.

Developing Story-PERSONAL Guidepost

November 1st 2008 23:19
My own personal opinion is that this story is a fake. It seems to have to many holes in it, because there were no independent observers. 3.2 inches is a rather big egg for a chicken. Ouch!

This story should be followed closely in the future to see if this is true or a hoax of some kind.

On the other hand, if such a story is true, intensive studies need to be done...including dissection...to see what caused this particular chicken to lay an egg within an egg.

I'm betting that this chicken laid such an egg much like the goose that laid the golden one!

Intelligent Instincts

November 1st 2008 19:59
I remember once announcing on a local news show that there were snowy owls at the airport. This brought the bird watchers out of the woodwork. It was as if suddenly there was a pilgrimage to go get a glimpse of these birds from birders all around.

People sometimes in their eagerness to spot an elusive or rare bird may actually put the animal in danger. That's what probably happened when birders went to a burrowing owl's hiding spot that was announced to others when it was discovered. They were given a rude awakening and taught a lesson on survival in the wild when a coopers hawk killed and consumed the bird

Return of the Deformed Amphibians

November 1st 2008 16:48
Amphibian deformation is still around and well and has spread from frogs to salamanders. Scientists have ruled out a number of possible causes including inbreeding. They still seem to think that man is the culprit of the deformities and decline by many amphibians. They point out:
...frog deformities are related to increasing numbers of infections caused by tiny parasites that thrive on nutrient-rich runoff from North American farms, a study last year found.
