The Natural Order - by signals

February To Remember

February 9th 2010 17:09
The groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter and since then we have had a month dubbed 'February Fury'. By now everybody has heard about the snow storm that blanketed the major cities of the mid-Atlantic. Many of them had snow records and most of the travel industry took a hit. One of the cities hit hardest was Washington, DC. Our capital was shut down to dig out, something that I'm use to in my area. They aren't as use to it in Washington, because a couple of inches of snow shuts down everything, giving our politicians a paid day off!

So finally life is returning to the major metropolitans of the east coast. On the good side, New York City was spared from the wrath of this major snowstorm. I don't have the heart to tell them that another major snowstorm is heading their way. NYC will not be spared this time, and Washington is in the center of the bulls-eye! Over a foot of snow expected.

Bet they are hoping for global warming now...

Climate Report Controversy

February 7th 2010 17:43
Just when I think that I am the only one who finds climate statistics inaccurate and easily manipulated, I find a growing truth to this theory among my peers. I really hate to sound like I'm repeating myself on the topic by giving my own statistics, but experts are finding flaws to the climate-pushers theories of doom.

The UN climate change panel inaccurately claimed that the Netherlands is over half below sea level due to climate change. The claim was false but they manipulated statistics. From the article:

... but the body has faced fierce criticism over the glacier mistake.

Glaciologists have discredited the Himalaya claim, which is being withdrawn, and the controversy has given fresh ammunition to climate sceptics.

I continue to be a skeptic over man-made global warming and believe that natural warming is unavoidable and man can't do anything to prevent it. I still believe that the earth seeks balance and tends to regulate itself. The balance is not always without casualties.

When Hell Froze Over

January 31st 2010 16:07
Is it possible for the Hudson River and Long Island sound to freeze over? The northeast has always had cold winters, but in the late 1700s there were a few very cold winters.

It was a weather phenomenon back then that bought such bitter cold that it may have depleted forests of trees that would lead to another phenomenon.

Amazing Natural Wonder

January 31st 2010 13:53
The world's largest volcanic island is on a lake that is on an island that is on a lake on another island. I guess that doesn't make sense and sounds like I'm repeating myself. That is actually an unbelivable natural wonder in the Philippines.

The sideshow will take you on an amazing trip!

Enviro Terrorist

A solution to the man-made global warming dilemma may be coming from an unlikely source. The cause is the United States and its allies. The solution is to boycott US goods and dollars. This in turn will collapse the US economy.

Sounds like a solution to the world's problems, doesn't it? The great solution comes from Osama bin Laden himself

There Is Unrest In The Forest

January 20th 2010 16:42
It seems that going green might be tearing families apart. There seems to be a rise in bickering among family members as to how much they should do to become eco-friendly. So I will invent a new term, and folks you heard it here first...eco-fanatics! Who is a bigger fan of the environment?

It all has to do with one's ego and the rewards it receives by believing it is helping the earth survive longer than it already has without our help! From the article

Florida's Next Invader

January 16th 2010 20:30
You learn something new everyday, I guess. I found out that if a rock python and a Burmese python were to breed they would make a 'super snake' that is aggressive and dangerous. Since discovering rock pythons during a coordinated round-up of Burmese pythons, officials worry that they can face a bigger problem in the future.

In Africa, rock pythons eat animals as large as goats and crocodiles, and have also been known to kill children. The discovery reveals that the snakes may be established without a natural predator. The big worry is still the fact that it can breed with a Burmese and create an even more dangerous 'super snake'.

The Other Side of an Argument

January 16th 2010 19:55
I actually believed that this was going to be a mild winter. Up until mid-December it was. November was one of the mildest in years without a trace of snow, which hasn't happened in decades. Then sometime before Christmas, the temperatures dropped and the snow wouldn't stop. Where we were below average in snowfall up to now, we are now well above average. The temperatures have been extremely frigid with the wind adding to lowering them for a biting combination.

This past week has seen a bit of snow but temperatures still below freezing. We are finally going above freezing for at least this week. Good thing we got this January thaw and we might as well enjoy it for now, because we still have a couple of cold and snowy months still to go

The Broken Record

Guess what this is about? Global warming, what else!

In what seems to be an ongoing argument about the current deep freeze, climate experts still continue to claim that we are warming. Believe what you want, folks! I've spoken my mind many of times, and like religion and politics people have strong opinions about this one. I like this article because it does prove that there is a growing amount of skepticism on the man-made factor
