The Natural Art of Antarctica
June 28th 2009 02:17
People that know me well know it's my unusal passion to holiday in Antarctica. The holiday I have selected costs only $60000US and I will probably retire with my super to do this holiday. Although in 30yrs I just hope it's all still there. My holiday of choice includes 6months circumnavigating this beautiful continent and doing it on a fully loaded leisure/ research vessel. You get to visit onland every amazing place with history, spend times with penguins and participate in iceberg swimming contests in wetsuits so think and bouyant it looks like an unmoving michellen man bobbing amongst frozen wetelands. You also have the opportunity to attend daily lectures on Antarctica or just plain stare in awe from luxury onboard comfort. I can seriously think of nothing more pure and amazing that I would like to add to my life story.
Thanks to a great email forward I received this awesome photographs.
Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes,
Formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions.
Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet
fills up with melted water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.
When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze
to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe.
Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up
when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.
Antarctica Frozen Waves - Nature is amazing!
The water froze the instant the wave broke through the ice.
That's what it is like in Antarctica where it is the coldest weather in decades.
Water freezes the instant it comes in contact with the air.
The temperature of the water is already some degrees below freezing.

I will save when I can ma and I will make it to Antarctica because tomorrow I become 90 Million richer
If it happens - you can both come with me
Nice to meet someone else who loves the place Kleonaptra - to me it's just all pure and beautifully white - and the coldness feels fresh, natural and healthy - who wouldn't love it.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AREN*T THEY?!?
Wowee, that second one is like a GIANT HUMBUG!
In fact they all remind me of peppermint and mint candies from my childhood and that is truly inspirational.
Nice.

They are fanstastic - I have no idea what a humbug is but am assuming it's one of those peppermint candies that I too remember from childhood.
A yummy boiled lolly!
Glad you like them
Have a good one
