I'm the kind of person who like to try anything new, no matter how off the wall it might seem. So when I came across binaural beats as an aid to migraine pain, I had to try it.

According to wikipedia, binaural beats or binaural tones are auditory processing artifacts, that is apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli

The great migraine drug race

At the moment there are a number of new migraine and tension headache drugs that are close to being released as drug producers race to the finish line to get their lastest concoction out to the buying public.

Although I don't like taking medication for migraines and head pain, and prefer to treat them naturally, I do believe there is a place for drug therapy - firstly for people who are only just starting to get symptoms. In this case, I believe drugs need to be used for pain control until other methods are found, triggers are uncovered etc. Secondly, medication should be a last resort when all else has failed. Although I don't like drugs, I believe it's worth taking a look every so often as to what is out on the market

Volunteers wanted for Migraine trial

Rush university is testing a new non-pharmacological migraine treatment for people with migraines that are untreatable any other way.

The experiment involves inserting tiny electrodes under the skin at the back of the neck and using very small electric pulses to mask the pain response to the brain. The electrodes have been approved by the FDA for use in back and torso pain, and the researchers are hoping to find that these devices also reduce migraine pain

Migraines - why put up with them?

Anybody who gets frequent migraines knows how debilitating they can be, however, a recent article says that only 3-5% of women seek preventative treatment.

Why is the number so low
