Of multi-tasking and re-heating soup

April 19th 2012 20:26
Tonight, Bella-Mae considered going to the gym. It would have been the third night in a row and last night’s torture class (run by the oh-so-cute-Tommy (personal trainer)) had made itself known today. All day, the body had been stunned into shock: ‘What the HELL was that all about last night???’ Tonight, the body has figured out what’s what and is paying its sweet revenge.
Bella-Mae, as a result, has decided it’s girly-therapy night! Pizza! Home-made, half a pizza base only. Pinot Grigio Blush. (although that bottle went before Bella started writing this).

Don’t get me wrong, lovely readers, Bella is not grumpy. She’s having a party! She’s multi-tasking! She’s drinking wine, watching Sex and the City and having a Eurovision Song Contest Party on Bookface! It’s awesome.
Now, Bella has arrived at an SATC episode where Mr. Big phones Carrie (this is season 3, they’ve broken up after the affair, he split up from Najinsky, too) and all he has to say is ‘It’s me.’ And CB is hooked. I have never been a fan of re-starting old relationships or love affairs, I never have. It’s like re-heating old soup. But...
Bella, sometimes/tonight wishes she had a man in her life who would just phone up and say ‘It’s me’ and all would be well. In fact, just a man would be great. It’s been a long time.
Still, there’s a Eurovision Party happening on Facebook! See you there! B-M xxx

You Heard it Here First

Bella-Mae is in love.
No, don’t worry, this is not going to be some greasy story about some sweaty boy who said something remotely charming over the coffee machine. This love is more profound, I know it will last for a long time to come.
In fact, it started some 8 months ago......
In July of last year, two very dear friends from Oz came to visit me on their 8-week tour around Europe. We had a fantabulous time here at my Seaside Palace, sitting on the balcony, drinking wine and playing Angry Birds on the iPad in between laughing loudly at dirty in-jokes. In fact, we had so much fun that I incurred a complaint letter for being noisy and a disturbance and trallala. Who knew, that toasting the sunrise at 3am with a shot was not appreciated by the neighbours?
So the three of use thought it best to move on and take our Angry Birds elsewhere. We spent another week in my home country being spoilt by my Mum’s home-cooking, the local beers and liquors and the sheer joy of being on holiday. We even got my step-dad addicted to Angry Birds.
Sadly, all good things come to an end......
I eventually downloaded Angry Birds to my iPhone. To be honest, I’ve never been an Apple-freak. Sure, I had (and still do) one of those cute chunky 32GB iPods. These days, it sits atop my clock radio and sings me to sleep every night.
Once my friend got her brand-new iPod Touch in 2009 with internet access and other wonders, I wanted one! So, having just come into a small sum of money thanks to being laid off, I invested in an iPod Touch plus a MacBook, for good measure. That was in August 2009 and both are still going strong. I never considered an iPhone because the whole touchscreen nonsense was tedious enough on the iPod and all my life I was a Nokia girl. I only cheated once, with a BlackBerry. And I blame ‘Flash Forward’ for that.
You must understand, dear readers, where i grew up, we didn’t even have a landline telephone until I was 12 years old (and please bear in mind that I am a child of the 80s!). I distinctly remember my best friend and I communicating by torch-morse code when we were kids! (we lived across from each other).
Now, as a (debatable) grown-up, the sheer technology that is available to us amazes me no end. As it turns out, I ended up in a job that requires complete geekiness- I train people to sell web and video conferencing, SIP-Trunking and Cloud Technology amongst other non-sense.
I am also single, and have been for the past 6 years. I don’t know if the two are related. But in the absence of a rough-and-ready man, I have today married my brand-new iPad. No, I don’t know how I have lived without him for all this time! It’s amazing! And now excuse me, I have some episodes of ’24’ to watch, because as far as my Top 3 goes, it looks like this: 1. iPad, 2. Jack Bauer, 3. Tony Almeida. And then, for dessert, I may just play a game of Angry Birds. Bliss.

‘First alcoholic drink of the day?’ John asked.
‘Amstel’, Patricia mused.
‘Strongbow’, Lewis declared.

Kat and Mouse

January 30th 2012 19:05
Katarina is a fuckwit. No doubt about it.
I was having dinner with Josie last night. She’s cute. Slightly neurotic about her weight, which is why she adores me. But hey, they’re all usually desperate. I’ve been a personal trainer for long enough to see the signs: the admiring looks, the gushing. Can you blame me for using this to my advantage? I was getting somewhere with Josie until this chav named Katarina waltzed in to the Black & White Lounge last night. Josie and I had just finished our dinner when ‘Kat’ shouted at Josie:
‘Oi! What the fuck are you doing here?’

Anyway, what you gonna do about it?

It’s Jeremy Edward Sutton’s 40th birthday today. Some people would have celebrated such an occasion. Others may have chosen to ignore it or made a feeble joke about it. Jeremy, however, sat there frozen. Frozen in time and frozen in mind, not caring if it snowed or the sun was shining; he was detached from the reality around him.

When you gonna realise, it was just that the time was wrong, Juliet ?

And so the story begins...

January 30th 2012 18:38
My name is Bella-Mae Eckhardt-James. Of BN43. I am a writer. (and yes, I DID steal that line from Carrie Bradshaw). And I love blogs. Reading them, writing them.... Blogs allow the reader to dive into the deep sub-conscious of the writer. Depths, that maybe even the writer isn't aware of. Unless she's been on the Sauvignon Blanc again.
I like the mystery of the world wide web- readers may know your innermost thoughts, but should they happen to stand behind you at a supermarket check-out, they'd have no idea it was you. And so I am creating this blog to post some of my short stories and musings. I am fascinated by science fiction- I love watching Fringe, Flash Forward, LOST, Terra Nova, The Matrix, Source Code.....I like Philip K. Dick and his sheep-dreaming androids. But most of all, I like to write my own stuff. Let my mind wander.
My 'abundantly living friend' (more about her later) has put some fascinating ideas in my head over the last few years and in my stories, I am trying to make sense of what I hear, what I see, what she tells me and what I believe.
