The Introduction
November 30th 2011 19:44
How do you introduce yourself to a man or woman? Do you walk up to them and say hello? Do you wait until you've seen them a few times before introducing yourself? Do you let them come to you?
People meet every day under many circumstances. We meet at work, on the subway, in the grocery store, at the gas station. We meet in social settings and at church. Usually when we meet it's just in passing and never see each other again. But if our every day lives bring us to the same places we see each other regularly. Sometimes this leads to conversation and an introduction to one another.
The introduction is very important in that it sets the tone for the relationship. Usually one or both people know this so there is a feeling out process. A handshake, some small talk and a getting to know period.
The thing that I have found in introducing yourself to someone is be as nice as possible. Give them your best from the start. Give them a smile and a warm greeting. Let them know that you are happy to meet them. And treat them like they are your equal. As the saying goes love thy neighbor as one would live thyself.
I've found that most of the women I become interested in I already know. We have spent time together at church, work or social gatherings. So circumstances usually bring us together.
But there are times when I have met people in passing and just struck up conversations with them which have led to friendships. Every time these friendships came out of like interests and warm introductions.
So when introducing yourself be at your best. Treat the person you are talking to with respect and show an interest in them.
It'll go a long way in all relationships and definitely make things go smoother in the dating process.
