No Phear (Hip Hop Find!!)

October 1st 2010 18:53
No Phear is a reggae, hip hop artist/songwriter from Stockbridge, GA. Originally from Jamaica, it is easy to see how his surroundings have influenced, both on a local and global level. With infectious layered beats, and lyrics that drop heavy, but move light, this artist puts a unique stamp on both genres. The best way to describe the sound of this artist is to examine the genres he writes in. There are some very clear reggae rhythms, yet it is a hip hop pace. It is a mystery as to why this combination has not been more popularized. As was said, the listener can tell that this artist is influence by what is around him. This would be a great representation of what happens when you fuse Jamaica and Georgia. A cool innovation that deserves to be heard.

Songs I like are "Zions Gate," and 'Thug 4 Life." They can be found at his reverbnation, or the player below: Really Long Link

Truth Panel (Rock Find!)

Truth Panel is a rock, alternative band from Toronto, Canada. Sometimes when a listener hears a band for the first time, he or she just knows it feels good. This might be how this band would be described. It reminds me of the new wave artists, but at the same time that could never define this band. It is easy to tell the there is a genuine inclusion of many influences. This is a band that sort of fell together, like a happy accident because they all lived so close together, but I feel we all can benefit from it. In many ways they remind me of Pink Floyd, yet again they cannot be defined by it. This is a unique band that just sounds good.

Songs I like are "Passion Fades," and "Yerevan." They can be found at their Revernation: Really Long Link

Ponts Des Arts

October 1st 2010 18:49
Ponts Des Arts is an Alternative pop duo from Toronto, Canada. It is a duo that does not take the term 'alternative' lightly. When their songs are listened to it sounds like nothing one has heard before, but at the same time comes off comfortable. Their mission is to bring the word 'pop' back into respectable viewing and take it to an age when it was sought after genre. The duo is defiantly into the art scene, so they would appeal to those who love taking art to a new level. Ponts Des Arts is a partnership that is now many years in the making, and a few reinventions of themselves to get where they are now. The songs may come off as almost dream scape in a way. They take the new wave movement pretty seriously and it shows. It is refreshing to hear a sound the is uniquely original.

Songs I like are "Rue Marie-Claire Christine," and "Stay Away." Check them out at their website: http://pontdesarts.ca/
