The Greenpeace Renegade

A Greenpeace co-founder says the movement is wrong to oppose nuclear energy. He claims that it more cost efficient than gas and solar. I'll even dare to include wind.
This was told to me by an old friend who worked at a local nuclear power plant back in the '70s. He had a bumper sticker that said Nuclear Energy-safe and efficient. You wouldn't believe how everyone would tell him how wrong that was...including me. We all had our thoughts of nuclear energy based on the bomb. Then the movie The China Syndrome about a nuclear cover-up.
In an eerie turn of events where real life imitates reel life, we had Three Mile Island that took place weeks after the film's release. That's when that friend of mine went into overdrive, claiming that a)it wasn't as bad as the media made it to be, and b)it will never happen at his plant. Now of course we shrugged it off and thought, "Yeah, right!"
Now we have to wonder whether he was right. In the US our environmental laws are very strict about pollution. This is why there has never been an actual Chernobyl in the US.
