The Farmer takes a Wife

Keeping me company while I bake and stir are an amish farming couple and their rooster. This charming set of bowls are a fairly recent addition to my kitchen, but they have a history. Originating in the 1950's, this set of Pyrex 'Butterprint' mixing bowls, still as sturdy and sheeny as new, came from America via ebay.
I had been reading about the popularity of vintage pyrex being used in modern kitchens, and did some browsing. When I saw this amish design (and the turquoise a perfect match with my kitchen colour scheme), I decided I too needed a set. Pyrex certainly lives forever, and is great stuff to work with. The bowls with the pouring lips are so useful.
Sometimes as I stir, I wonder about the kitchen the bowls once lived in, what was made in them and did their owner have an adorable apron as epitomised the time? If you feel like welcoming some preloved pyrex into your kitchen, there are some beautiful designs available. Pyrex Love is a great place to start your search, as they can give you histories, examples and current ebay offerings.
A little bit of amish influence in our kitchen certainly won't go astray.
