THE DEATH OF THE POLISH POET- 'WISLAWA SZYMBORSKA HAS LEFT THE LITERARY WORLD IN MOURNING!
She had produced around 400 poems in a literary span of 60yrs.
ROBERT HASS once described her as UNQUESTIONABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST LIVING POETS IN EUROPE.
WISLAWA SZYMBORSKA WAS A HIGHLY SOUGHT-AFTER PERSONA IN THE LITERARY CIRCLE IN POST WORLD WAR POLAND.
Like many other writers of her generation,she too was extremely impressed with the communist-ideology and her earlier works were heavily biased in admiration of communism.In Poland of Communist-Censor era,she was quick to strike a chord with the socio-politcal culture of poland.Her unwavering faith was towards the SOCIALIST-REALISM.
But,like many other authors of her time,she too was quickly disillusioned with the false promises and the Stalinist Way of Communism.
She became very bitter and had denounced everything related with communism !
Her later works were a scathing rebuttal of sort to her earlier works.
WISLAWA SZYMBORSKA WAS 88.SHE GOT THE LITERATURE-NOBEL IN 1996.SHE WAS A SHY AND PRIVATE PERSON AND TILL HER LAST SHE HAD MANAGED TO GUARD HER PRIVACY TO A GREAT EXTENT.
THE DEATH OF WISLAWA SZYMBORSKA HAS CREATED A VOID NOT EASY TO BE FILLED SOON!
POLISH GOVERNMENT REFERRED HER AS 'THE GUARDIAN-SPIRIT'.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE!
