The Castle

Cordelia stared intently at William as he recounted his horrible vision. He must have seen the man that Occam warned her about. She wanted William to go on with what he saw, but at the same time she didn't. She wanted to put the ring on and see for herself what this was about.
They sat on the edge of the lake, letting the atmosphere calm them down. After a long few moments, William handed her back the ring.
"Something tells me you want to see for yourself. Actually, you NEED to see it, or else he wouldn't have given it to you."
I think you're right," Cordelia said. "Whatever it is this guy Occam wanted me to see, it means something to me. I just wonder why I'm so special or whatever."
"Maybe this guy in the black suit needs you for something. Maybe he needs you for your visions. Whatever it is, he's dangerous. I just want you to be careful, like be on your guard. You still have that gun your dad gave you, right?"
"Yes, of course, but he said it wouldn't work on the guy. He said it wouldn't work on him either. I forgot about that part."
"I wonder what he means by that." William said.
"My guess is that he's trying to scare me, because he didn't say anything else. But what if…"
Cordelia let her question trail off, not really wanting to think of that possibility. She certainly didn't want to voice it out loud to William. What if both of them were some sort of monsters? What would she be able to do to stop them?
Halfway across the world, Occam was hurrying up to the entrance of a very old castle. Twelve hours before, he was face to face with the girl. He did what he was told to do, but he felt dissatisfied. He wanted to tell her more; he wanted to tell her WHAT this guy was that was stalking her. He had a feeling that she was the type of person that might actually be able to defend herself against his kind. She seemed to be resourceful and had good instincts. If taught, she would be perfect for Occam's clan.
The door of the castle opened under Occam's touch. He paused as he was about to step inside. He turned around and looked up into the sky. Clouds were skating by the full moon. The trees rustled from the breeze in the air. Occam murmured to himself.
"One month from now, it will be over. For good or for ill, it will be all over."
