On friday as Chris Robinson's attorney filed for divorce from his wife, Kate Hudson, news came out that Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake are settling down in Hawaii.

They're said to have bought a $16.9 million estate on Oahu, with 100 feet of private beach.

I guess easy come, easy go. Right?

I feel as horrified by you by the whole situation, and I'm certain that every country should be trying to intervene, nationally or through international bodies - but I'm at a loss to figure out how if the people involved resist.

I especially find it hard because I've always supported a harm minimisation / legalisation approach to drugs, on the basis that if prohibition can't stop drug use altogether, at least you can minimise the consequent harm to drug users and society.

But I just can't bring myself to extend that kind of argument to female circumcision (for pretty obvious reasons), even though logically I think it would help the situation, in the short-term at least. Did the lecture have any thoughts that resonated with you on the action that could / should be taken?

meanwhile you may have something on the movie front - for some reason it's always the most boring sports you could ever play that make for FANTASTIC movies. like baseball. it's a mystery.
