The Basic Steps of Blogging Part 1
September 6th 2010 16:16
Blogging can become a full time source of income for many people who want to earn money online. The step though is not that easy as many people think. Those who say that they already earn thousands of dollars online from blogging have invested time, effort and a little amount of money before they could reach their current status. A blog needs to have an active online presence for at least 6 months before it could get a decent amount of traffic and income, however, once it has taken-off, the income becomes unlimited. When this time comes, it would already be your turn to tell the world that you are earning a full time income from blogging. So, how can one become a full time blogger? What preparations do we have to take in order to become one?
Before we discuss about the technical side, let’s first tackle the step by step process on how you can start your blog and keep it live online. There are two ways to create a blog, the first is to join free blogging sites like Blogger and Wordpress, the second is to get your own hosting in which you will have a monthly hosting fee. Paid hosting gives you more freedom on your blog than the free hosted ones. However if you are still new, it is best to join the free hosted ones first. Blogger is the easiest to start with and you can create a blog in minutes. Wordpress is popular too, however, if you want to publish adsense ads on your blog, it is not allowed unless you upgrade your membership. After you signed the membership form, Blogger or Wordpress will then send you a confirmation link in which you have to confirm. Once your membership was confirmed, you can now start your blog right away. If you want to get your own hosting, Godaddy is the most reliable compared to the other ones being offered online. However, it is always best to do your own research first.
Step 2 includes buying a domain for your blog. Having your own domain has many benefits than having a subdomain. Majority of domain blogs are found by search engines first than subdomains unless your subdomain blog has tremendous amount of traffic. If you want to sell ad space later on also, domain blogs are mostly preferred by advertisers than subdomains. A domain name is the address of your blog which allows people to visit it. Choose domain names which are universal and related to the niche that you have chosen, for example, www.travelmezze.com if you have a travel blog. Similarly, health, beauty, finance, pet, technology and blogs from other niche domains should also be related.
