The attack of Mrs. Meno
Today you're having a great conversation about things going on around you, your family, life, work, money.
Tomorrow you're arguing with a hormonal teenager and someone you didn't expect would and could do this is actually walking out on you with stamping feet!
Now you're joking around with the rest of the family.
Later you're hearing complaints about the smallest and insignificant things... Like how the car MUST be parked on this other side Just coz.
A while ago, all you hear are praises about how you're doing great and your sister doesn't know what to do with her life, thank goodness for you.
10 minutes later you become THE temparamental one, and you just couldn't be the "bigger person."
A week ago, splurging for grandma was no issue.
Yesterday, you wouldn't hear the end of how that's just a waste of money.
If you've lived with a woman in her 50's or so, you probably are familiar with these situations I just mentioned. Yes I'm talking about women menopausing, in these cases, more particularly about my mom.
She wanted to do something a while ago and I carefully explained to her that we have to wait until the workers are actually done so we won't have to do it again after another 20 minutes. She insisted, we let her be, until the construction worker told her we'd better not bother doing that because the tractor's on its way and will just disarrange what we had arranged.
She stormed out of our faces into the house mumbling something about how we don't understand her..
errr... I'm a woman too, in fact I come from a family of 4 sisters -- no boys aside from my dad. We get our temperaments during our monthly visits but we've somehow learned to at least try and avoid getting into situations that may annoy us. Then again ours is still just PMS.
Hers... well it's the infamous Menopause.
I still don't understand why women try to deny this stage of their lives. My honest opinion is that I'll gladly accept this when it comes. It means most of the things I need to worry about are more than halfway over.
However, mood swings are one thing, hot flashes are a another.
Then again, I'm not yet there. I hear it's unpredictable. I hear you can't control it no matter how hard you try. Still, I know some women who are going through this gracefully, or maybe I'm just not so aware..
