The atmosphere is determined by my attitude

There is no denying the fact that we live in a very dysfunctional world. This reality is due to the fallen nature of man which tends to move increasingly further away from God if left unchecked. Frankly, we do not receive good news very often. In such an environment, it is easy to become so caught up in the bad news that not only are we discouraged, but we effectively become a discouragement to other people.
Obviously, the opposite of discouragement is encouragement. Both discouragement and encouragement are powerful words. Depending on which end of the spectrum we fall, they can either make or break our day. A simple compliment from someone can put us into a great mood. In the same way, an ugly complaint from someone can send us into mild depression.
When there is an effect, there is always a corresponding cause. It would do us well to ask, “What kind of effect does my life cause in other people?”
Our attitude and its corresponding actions can have a powerful affect on the atmosphere around us. In a manner of speaking, we can create dark clouds and blustery winds or bright sunshine and a calm day.
