The alligator is the species of reptile that comes from genus Aligatoridae. There are generally two living species of this creature. These are the Chinese Alligator and the American Alligator. There are also species that are known through fossil. The first species of alligator was is existence around 27 million years ago. The name comes from the Spanish. They use the term to pronounce lizard. The giant lizards were spotted in Florida when the Spanish explorers settled.
