The Addict
The answers lie, mixed,
in the sediment that defines
a finely aged wine,
the cool reflection on the
glass bottle distorts
enough to make a distorted
reality appear a
normality.
More clarity appears
in your hours of freedom
which unlock the prisoner
from conformity and chains of
cold feeling.
Bells ring outside to warn
of mis-guided
open-minded
thinking.
Red eyes, shaking fingers,
clear, but foggy thoughts.
Was that one moment of clarity
worth the hours of tomorrows' energy?

What's Your Story?
Big Day Plunge
Whatever that clarity brings, and whether it was borne out of a haze, a daze, an upturned bottle of wine (or two), it will be worth it.
No matter how tired you will be in the day that follows.
Clarity is always worth the labor.

Loved you poem, very compact, yet so full of image......very hard to achieve in my books
Movies and Life
I read your poem this morning and it's stayed with me. Your imagery is vivid and strong and beautiful as always.
And what a question...I was still pondering after I read it but I think my answer is yes, it's worth it. Definitely.
Love it,

Amazing the moments of clarity that come at the foggiest of times. I lived with a recovering alcoholic for a while and was often amazed by the tales that came out of time spent in the haze.... not that it`s a particularly good habit to get into though!
I hope you are well.

Good to see you. I'm in agreeance - the liquid drains away and you`re still left with your problems.... as well as a hangover.
But it`s always good to sit and solve the problems of the world over a beverage or two now and again.

Yep sometimes it`s worth that moment of clarity hey - allowing the mind to ramble on until you come to some conclusion of sorts.
I watch a man who hangs out at our local shops and see him almost everyday at the bottle shop. He buys a 5L cask of wine and sits and drinks and watches the world go by, around dusk time heading to wherever home is for him. I would love to chat to him one day and discover what led to his life to be like this now.
I know quite a few people with addiction problems and its really upsetting to see how society treat them - as though they are useless and the scum of the earth. again the importance of that sentence from ;Under the Tuscan Sun' about what pivotal point was in their life to lead them in this direction.
We are surrounded by people with so many untold stories... I`d love to sit and capture them all for the world to know and for them to feel like their life is special in some way or another.
Here endeth my ramble
Thanks for the compliment re: the banner. Yup that`s my pic - my pelly has returned for his summer stay, replacing the ducks that normally live in these waters. I can watch him for hours.

As for whether the moment of clraity is worth, surely that's the most worthy part of the day? Even if you have to start all over again the next day, you've got that moment to guide you. I'm increasing my lucidity these days, but there were days that went by without much clarity of the type I was looking for, and I always treasure that experience of lucidity the most.
Catch you later my sweet,

Sometimes i am overwhelmed by the beauty of mother nature.
Thanks for your ideas. It`s true what you say - I just wonder about the penalty for that moment of clarity - if it`s worthwhile? Perhaps - it`s a personal nature with personal meaning.

Your speakin to me today. So sick of the goddamn working world and its bullshit.

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I’ve been flitting around everywhere.
I know what you mean about wondering how people got to their point in their lives. I live in an area where there are a few homeless people on the main street. I often subtly (I love sunglasses) look at other people as they pass to see if I can see disdain or judgement on their face, as generally people assume that homeless people are all drunks, dangerous and it’s their situation is their own fault, just as you were saying.
This way of thinking isn’t so prevalent in our area as it is so eclectic, there are punks, hippies, and allsorts of people here and that is one of its appeal to many people. It’s an accepting area. It’s one of the reasons why we love it.
But I used to work with homeless young girls and would see the judgmental attitude a lot. One bloke actually said to me that they were all delinquents who were always in trouble and it was their own fault. I think it was a rare time in my life where I actually spoke quickly and told him the real situation (instead of me saying nothing and wishing later that I had said something). I told him that most of them had been sexually abused, their mothers didn’t want them and chose the perpetrator over their own daughter.
This ponce lived a privileged life, spoke constantly of his famous son-in-law and reminded us as much as possible that he was a famous vet. This was a few years ago in England and he is one my mother-in-law’s friends, so when Rich and I were there earlier in the year, I didn’t want to see this buffoon. I refused. I have little time for people that have to constantly speak with ego and without any compassion.
And there is my ramble

I guess it`s just the price of clarity is suffering to an extent - all those moments leading up to the one... difficult to explain. Some people find their answers in different ways though - and it`s those ways that provide the penalty.

What an idiot!
That`s the thing - people just assume that others are delinquents because they don`t fit the mould that society has so caringly (cough) laid out for them. They don`t look beyond that at the bigger picture and see the real reason behind that persons suffering. Often it is an escape - drugs and alcohol - from a life of hell.
I`m am glad that you found the courage to speak out then - what a time to find your voice! good for you.
