Tex Perkins, one of Australia's most electrifying front men will walk the Johnny Cash line in Adelaide for 5 performances only from July 22 to 25 bringing the hard-living country legend to life at Her Majesty's Theatre for five performances.
Tickets go on sale through Bass from Friday 21 May.
Following sell-out seasons in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane the multi ARIA Award-winning Perkins (The Cruel Sea, The Beasts of Bourbon) will lead band The Tennessee Four - Shannon Bourne, Dave Folley, Steve Hadley and Shane Reilly in a show that includes twenty-four Cash hits including Folsom Prison Blues, Get Rhythm, I Walk The Line and Ring of Fire.
Written by Australian theatrical producer Jim McPherson (Wild World - The Cat Stevens Story) who confesses to a forty-year fascination with the wildly unpredictable Cash, the show celebrates the life and times of one of the most incredible singers, songwriters and entertainers ever to grace the stage. The Man in Black is two hours of Cash s greatest hits interwoven with the story of his rise to stardom, fight for survival and eventual redemption.
The show also explores Cash's relationship with the greatest love of his life, June Carter. Perkins co-star Rachael Tidd, who has sung and acted in everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim, will interpret Carter s dynamic vocal style.
