This is a very easy activity that your child will have fun with...younger children will need assistance though as they need to learn to 'blow' through the straw.
What you need
* food colouring or very runny paint
* paper
* straw
Method
1. Add drops of different food colouring or paint to your paper.
2. Using the straw, blow the drops into different directions, making patterns as you go. Talk about what happens to the paint when you blow it this way or that way...
Discuss what happens when the blue paint mixes with the green paint etc...
3. Allow to dry and now you have a great painting!

Hello there,
Here is a simple and fun activity for the kids to do....each print will all look different and they look good when used as wrapping paper or laminated...
Over 3's will insist on doing this themselves but under 3's will need some adult assistance.
PLEASE be careful using balloons.....children may choke if they place them into their mouth
What you need
* paints of different colours
* balloons that have been blown up slightly by an adult
* plastic bowls
* spoons
* paper
Process
1. Add paint to bowls.
2. Place a balloon into each bowl.
3. Dab balloons into paint.
4. Transfer balloon to paper and gently bounce balloon up and down. I tell the chn to just 'dab, dab, dab the balloon onto the paper.
5. Repeat step 4 using different colours.
6. Wow! now allow to dry.
]Hints
** Try adding a little water to the balloon prior to blowing it up. This will keep the balloon weighted down and easier for little hands to handle, it will also stop the balloon from blowing away.
** Use as wrapping paper
** Laminate and add magnets
Benefits of this activity
* Colour recognition.
* Language development as you talk to your child about the process of the activity and the colours that are used.
* Hand and eye coordination as your child manipulates the balloon around the paper.
* Social skills - talking about the print, confidence in achieving an end result.
But most of all have fun with your child as you create together!
