What constitutes bad manners? - by D. Armenta

Tell me about yourself

April 12th 2007 00:53
..but don't tell me where you're from because I don't want any preconceived notions to get in the way. The beauty of Orble and other blogsites is that one can simply write about one's thoughts without having to be a representative of a particular race, gender, creed, religion, or country. In this way we can see each other as individuals and perhaps promote better relations with each other.
In my world, people are separated into only two groups: assholes and non-assholes. Above and beyond that, I'm not making any judgements until I get to know you better--if I want to know you better. I've met assholes of every race, gender, creed, religion, color and country; no one particular group has a monopoly of assholes.

My name is Dana.
I'm a professional drummer. I also work part-time at a resort on an island.
I love animals.
I love people as individuals but they can really piss me off as a whole sometimes.
I try not to be an asshole but I suppose I slip once in awhile, just like everyone else does.
I love to read, camp, kayak, sculpt, and write.
I love playing drums, and I love my vintage 1942 Slingerland Radio King kit, which I restored.
I have a rather earthy sense of humor and an imaginatively executed fart at the right time can still make me laugh hysterically.
I love getting older because I'm also getting wiser.
I served in the Navy for 10 years and lived in Asia.
I go on medical missions with my father-in-law to inoculate and treat kids in underdeveloped countries.

P.S.--I am also American. But like I said, I try real hard not to be an asshole.

I don't like ot give away too much as i like to appear mysterious.

I am a male. I am creative, a writer, a dreamer.

Not being as mysterious as Brenton, I am a Canuck, on my second marriage, am an asshole at times (or so my wife tells me), have three kids from the first marriage (two spuds and one tomato), am looking forward to retirement, love fishing and working on my model train layout, am told I have a dry sense of humour, believe in live and let live up to a point, enjoy classic rock music, am not tall, dark or handsome, not sure about getting older because it doesn't seem to be helping my wisdom, and suffer from an insatiable appetite for good, BBQ'd pork ribs.

Brenton, how intriguing...
Ranter: I get wiser with age because I learn from my mistakes; since I make so *many*, I'm almost constantly learning ; )

D., I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong, lmao.

Well I think I'll hop in the middle information-wise between Brenton and youranter.

I'm an Aussie, married with 2 kidlets. By day I can be found lolling around bakeries, doing uni assessments (not in the bakery - I don't want my half-cooked ideas becoming fully baked) and trying to keep my blogs rolling well in advance.

I love reading, not that I get much time for it these days either in books or online, and am currently in the middle of 3 uni assessments, one child with chicken pox and a neck so severely injured the meds put me to sleep, all this just before I star my week of prac tomorrow.

Ain't life grand! ; )

I stumbled across your blog today. I really like it! Where have all the manners gone? It's no wonder kids have no respect for adults these days!!!! Keep up the good work!

Hi Dana,
I'm short, short-tempered and impatient. I have a way of talking in an excited way that makes people think I'm on the verge of losing it - to laughter or temper, who knows? Before you can call me an asshole, I can be very nice to people who aren't assholes or conceited. I love food. Writing. Reading. Watching DVDs and massages. And my goal in life is to win a lot of money so I don't have to work and, instead, buy a boat or a jet plane to take me around the world. NIce to meet ya!

Likewise, Aimzster..our guitarist sounds a lot like you and he's a good friend; a quick temper doth not an asshole make...

I am posting, as a newbie to Orble, a sort of autobiographical recap. But, for now, I am approaching middle age, having turned 72, am a retired state of Florida toiler with the Department of Revenue, am a retired NY attorney and have opinions that are always positive and sometimes right. I try and not be an asshole, and every now and then succeed.

I am American, Southern as the Day is long.
I have too much sugar in my diet
I have two gorgeous children.
I have a "Bitch streak" that sometimes is unmanageable. But I try.
My inner bitch usually takes over when she sees that I'm either A) about to be taken advantage of
B)Not being listened to, or
C) Not getting my way.

Which is pretty much all the time, and it is a full time job keeping her under control. but the meds help.
I have no pets, and I HATE washing dishes.

Nice to know you Dana.
My name is Amy.
I am a full time project manager in a large multi-national corporation
I get paid for doing half of the work required
but I'd be lying if I said it's the ultimate job
for my dream is to become a nomad, and write about this world
but bills need to be paid, so I am keeping at my job for now.
I love reading, I love writing and I love classical music
I also scuba dive and practice Aikido
I like earthy colours and comfortable clothing
and I spend most of my money travelling when I can

and I try not to be an asshole!

You know, I just may repost this. It's nice to hear a little about the other writers here, interest- (and asshole)-wise. Thanks for commenting!
