Ted Haggard’s Gay Prostitute Lover: George, did you wash your hands?

November 4th 2006 04:38
Ted
Ted you old sly boots!

There are few things Republicans like more than digging up the bedroom dirt on some kinky, liberal commie traitor type. No one seems to tell them about the reaping what you sew bit. Invariably the chlorine gas is going to blow back into your trench and kill you when you release it. So it was some Republican nightmare when that great moral crusader and spiritual advisor to GW Bush was found to be putting it where he ought not to and into a person normally paid for sex. The power of labeling a woman a prostitute in order to discredit her was revealed in the McCartney- Mills battle. Notice how quick that got deflated. Well now it has been revealed in the coo coo land of American politics that Ted Haggard is the unthinkable.

Here’s some quotes from your colleagues at Americablog:

And he's virulently anti-gay. This guy was on TIME's list of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America. It doesn't get any bigger than this. And he's from Colorado. Wonder what Marilyn Musgrave has to say about this?

From 9News in Denver:
A gay man and admitted male escort claims he has had an ongoing sexual relationship with a well-known Evangelical pastor from Colorado Springs.

Mike Jones told '9 Wants to Know' Investigative Reporter Paula Woodward he has had a "sexual business" relationship with Pastor Ted Haggard for the past three years.

Haggard is the founder and senior leader of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The church has 14,000 members.

He is also president of the National Association of Evangelicals, an organization that represents millions of people.

Haggard is married with five children and an outspoken critic of gay marriage....

Jones started talking to 9 Wants to Know two months ago. He claims Haggard has been paying him for sex over the past three years, even though Haggard preaches that homosexuality is a sin.

Jones also claims Haggard used methamphetamine in his presence on several occasions....

Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw profiled Haggard in 2005 in a series on mega-churches. Haggard was also listed by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential Evangelicals in America last year.

Some years ago it was policy in America that you never dug up stuff about another politician’s sex life because it meant peeing into the tent and also resorting to this kind of muck racking produced politicians of the lowest common denominator.

Ted can pay for all the gay sex he likes so long as he is not there like Madame Defarge at the guillotine knitting while some poor liberal gets beheaded for the same crime.

Good bye, Ted and good riddance.

In the future it's going to surprise me when religious leaders aren't repressed homosexuals.

As I understand it, Haggard counter-claims that:

(1) he hired the guy for a massage; and
(2) he bought crystal meth, but then threw it away.

Nothing gets passed you. 1. To paraphrase Churchill, "Some massage!" and 2. Yes like you would drop into the local drug pit and buy some heroin then ditch it. It all makes perfect sense.

Spain01,

I voted because this is a good post and people who don't realise this fact, need to. However, hypocrasy is not new, but I wonder if it must always come down to 'who's up who and who's not paying' just before an election. It gets people outraged and off balance enough to forget about HEALTH, EDUCATION and ENVIRONMENTALISM... the fact perhaps that we're drowning in our own acid rain... and rather than have you think I was criticising your post - which I am not - It made me think of what I would think of Al Gore if I had discovered similar facts about him... would it change my view... I don't think so. Look at Clinton, did I care about his sexual appetites, no... but I do care that he is a better diplomat than GW will ever be. Is GW straight up?

Maybe I don't care who's up who and who's not paying, but I truly believe that makes me a minority these days...

Lilla...

I think this shows that some of the people that are most vehemently against homosexuality, are potentially repressing their own personality.

Anyway, it's been a bad year for Republicans and conservatism!

To quote adrian:
(1) he hired the guy for a massage; and
(2) he bought crystal meth, but then threw it away.
This is true, however, is it not obvious that these two facts are the only ones able to be proved? The act of takin the meth is unable to be proven, so he obviously denies it. Anything other than the massage, which was paid for and recorded, is unable to be proven. Is it not possible that he is lying becuase there is slim to no chance of anyone including the media being able to prove these accusations? Or perhaps he is the victim of backstabbing political sabbotage by one of his more proactive enemies.

To Lilla,
You have raised good points and indeed some have argued that the Bush presidency has become an environmental disaster because had he lost to Gore we would not have had the same downgrading of the EPA among other things. It may be that the Bush presidency turns out to be the straw that breaks the back of the world’s environment.

To Cibbuano,
Yes it has been unfortunate for them and they are now about to lose the elections which in political terms is the worse that can happen.

To Citizenkane,
Yes well said as usual but the media does not need the corroborrative evidence of the courts which is a great pity I think. We have our own tribunals that can convict people and destroy them without corroboration and on hearsay which many do not realise.

I like how apparently the fact that he threw it away is meant to be in some way redeeming...

Precisely. The purchase of a prohibited substance is an offence. End of story take it or not.

I wonder if Ted Haggard is more of a elton jhon fan or George michael fan? I think ive raised a serious question.
