Taking a simple ride, and paying for it
April 19th 2008 17:26
So,I took a chance yesterday and went to lunch with my husband. It was a bright beautiful day out.The kind most people would jump for joy over, especially with all the crappy weather most have been having.
I wore my hat and my sunglasses.I of course take an extra precaution, sunscreen,my brother 3yrs older than me has melanoma. He has to wear sunscreen indoors during the day.
Anyway,we weren't going to be long.Lunch is buffet style. But I had done this a few days before and about an hour afer we got home,I got an aura, the pain level (which I'm always in pain) shot up and nothing helped. So,I had to wait it out for it to come down.I just had an er trip last week and didn't want another.
I got through the day ok.Last night I noticed my pain was up a little. This morning,I woke up in severe pain.I have things I have got to do.Some laundry,a little cleaning and an unfortunate trip to the store.
When we came home yesterday,I kept my head down.I avoided all the glares I could coming off of oncoming cars and whatever else. Then,I started thinking. It's been awhile since I've driven.I'm kind of stuck then, right?Day or night. The headlights, streetlights at night are too much for me.
Migraine, the "Oh,you have a headache?" is so much more than that.It rules every little thing in your life,if that's what you want to call it,life. You can't really plan anything,I take a chance going for a simple ride, let alone plan to go to some event.
So,for migraineurs everywhere,it totally stinks that we are looked down upon while so much is taken from us.Then you have these wonderful med blogs who run us into the ground and tell us to behave in the er waiting room....wait and wait....because of course, the er is for real patients...not us.Not people with "headaches" ,chronic pain sufferers. You can just wait until your doctor gets in.
If you do not believe that's the attitude, check out some med blogs, the ones that deal with er.You'll see you are worse than scum in their book.Even "real" druggies come first.
Oh,do I sound like I have an attitude....better believe it!Tired of being "mistreated" by medical morons, who when you post on their blog, make fun of you if your grammer is not right,or words are spelled wrong,ummmmm.....part of migraine, med moron!
