Swept from the Sea (fiction/romance) - by Kiwi Author

Swept from the Sea continued

February 24th 2007 09:09
As soon as they got going, Falte, started his antics, speeding up, jumping fallen trees and generally just being ever so slightly naughty, but Sarah loved the thrill of speed and the wind upon her face.
She glanced round half expecting Hallion to be some way behind her but Saxon was thundering along at a cracking pace, huge clods of earth being thrown up by his hooves behind him.
Hallion had a wide grin upon his face as they drew level.
‘Let’s go Falte’ Sarah told him, geeing him to go faster.
The landscape just became a blur as they both galloped at a tremendous pace. Crouched down, both them intently focusing ahead, their eyes starting to water from the speed.

She risked a fleeting sideways glance, he was right next to her, starting to pull ahead, when see realised where they were heading to and a look of fear crossed her face, for they were both heading towards the river.
‘Damm’ she cursed before saying ‘C’mon Falte, whoa!’ As she tried to calm him down.
Hallion carried on going thinking she had given up, when he heard her urgent cry of warning, he glanced round quickly, thinking she was in trouble before realising that the danger was in front of him.

He knew there was no way he could stop in time, so quickly deciding which was the most narrowest part, he urged Saxon onwards.
Sarah was slowing down, when in fear she said to herself ‘What is he doing?’ Her hand going to her mouth in suspense.
‘Go Saxon, go!’ He urged desperately as the river bank loomed right in front of them.
And with that, both horse and rider launched into the air, Sarah almost wanted to shut her eyes at what she might see but she was amazed to see them both land safely upon the other side.

As she made her way across, Hallion dismounted, giving Saxon a very well deserved pat on the neck.

Sarah was relieved to see them both safe but she could see that he was a little pale. Dismounting quickly, she went up to him and placed her arms around him, holding tightly.
‘I thought I had lost you’ she told him, her voice still slightly shaky.

Well this is all I have developed so far on this story so guess I need to start writing some more.

Big Surprise for Lord De Veer

February 21st 2007 09:22
‘Then I have a surprise for you, so here are some clothes that should fit you and I will come back in a moment and help you down the stairs’ she told him pulling a shirt and jeans that were her brother’s from a drawer.
He looked at them puzzled as she passed them to him but as he
realised what they were, for the first time he gave her a smile, one
that was so warm and sincere it made her feel weak at the knees.

‘I’ll come back in a moment’ she replied before quickly leaving the
room, closing the door behind her.
Leaning against the hallway wall, she thought ‘Get a grip Sarah, he
smiles once and you go weak at the knees?’ But there was something
in that smile and in his eyes that touched deep inside of her.
And for a fleeting moment, she had the thought of what it might be
like to kiss him but shaking her head quickly to dispel that notion she
went into her room to finish dressing properly, her thoughts however did recall the dream from the night before and for a moment she felt her heart flutter.

Meanwhile Hallion sat staring at the door she had just left through,
for he had never seen anyone as beautiful as this woman Sarah and
he felt at a loss for words. For her smile was like the sun rising in the
morning, her eyes showed a loving nature and he couldn’t recall the
last time he had felt like that about anyone.
Quickly getting dressed and gritting his teeth against the pain he felt, he opened the door and stepped on to the landing, just as Sarah reappeared from her room.

‘Ready to go?’ She asked him, smiling as she took his arm, helping him down the stairs.
‘To go where?’ He asked plainly confused but intrigued all the same.
‘I’ll show you’ Sarah replied with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes as they entered into the kitchen where Sasha was busily chewing one of her shoes. The little dog looked at them both for a second before deciding that the shoe was more interesting and carried on chewing.
As they went outside, the sun shining brightly, Sarah led him to the path that led to the stables.

As they walked, she noticed he was taking everything in around him before stopping at her rabbit’s enclosure.
‘That’s Charlie’ she told him with a grin.
He gave her another one of those weak knee smiles as he knelt down for a closer look at the big white fluffy rabbit.
‘He’s cute’ Hallion replied grinning.
‘C’mon lets carry on’ she said to him, smiling.
‘Your garden is very nice’ he said to her as they passed various planters and flowers.

‘My favourite part is just coming up’ she told him eagerly.
They passed through a gap in the tall hedge and in front of them was a tunnel that was formed by an archway of living trees that had grown and intertwined their branches together. At it’s end stood a wall with a wooden gate that stood ajar.
‘This is amazing!’ Hallion said in awe as they walked slowly along, the sunlight shining gently through the softly swaying branches.

‘It’s called Lover’s Walk, the previous owner of the house designed it for his wife and as the trees grow and intermingle, they become one, supporting each other, just like a good marriage I would say’ she told him adding ‘Or that’s what he thought, telling me the story when I bought the house from him.
‘What do you think Sarah?’ He asked her, stopping and turning to look her in the eyes.
‘I, I’m not sure’ she replied, her heart beating faster and her breath catching in her chest as she looked into his eyes, the depth of his soul showing all too clearly and she could feel herself falling for the love that she could see within them.

They moved closer, his hand gently reaching for hers, goose bumps running down her spine as they touched.
‘You have shown me so much kindness, how can I repay you?’ He asked drawing closer to her.
She didn’t know how to reply, her heart was racing faster, knees feeling weak just at his touch, with her mind thinking about the dream.
Putting his other arm on her shoulder, he moved closer to her, smiling as she moved next to him.
He could feel himself being enchanted by her beauty, her smile and warmth she gave off, he so wanted just to kiss her but he had been brought up to respect woman so was hoping that she might make the first move.

Sarah learned forward, bringing her face closer to his, thinking ‘I just have to kiss him’ when suddenly there was a cry of ‘Hi guys’
and breaking out of the moment, she looked and saw Becky coming towards them.

As the moment was lost, with Sarah looking disappointed, Hallion gave her a reassuring look before whispering ‘Thank you’ just as Becky drew close to them both.
Sarah noticed her friend giving him the once over, so she quickly introduced them to each other.
‘Becky, I would like you to meet Lord Hallion De Veer’ she said slightly embarrassed as her friend giggled ‘Oh royalty?’
‘Hallion, can I introduce you to my friend Becky, who was with me when we found you upon the beach’ she told him, feeling her cheeks flushing red slightly.

‘It’s a pleasure to meet you, my lady and thank you for helping Sarah rescue me’ he replied with a courteous nod of his head.
This just started her giggling again before she said ‘Let me join you both before taking a hold of his arm and leading him onwards.
As Sarah joined them, he turned his head slightly to her, giving her another one of those smiles and a wink of the eye, before pretending to listen to what Becky was talking quickly about.

Even though she was disappointed to not have kissed, she more than got the impression that he was also disappointed and that the next opportunity wouldn’t be that long in coming.
As they approached the ajar gate, Sarah said to him ‘Close your eyes’.
He looked at her for a moment puzzled but then did as she asked giving a smile when he felt her hand take hold of his.
Leading him through the gate and to the paddocks beyond, she waited until they were near where Falte and his horse were having a good gallop across the field.

‘You can open them now’ she told him smiling.
He opened them, his face showing disbelief as he saw his horse running in the distance. Looking from her to his horse and back to her again, she saw something in his eyes and at that moment Sarah knew that he had totally fallen for her.
Quickly he placed two fingers to his mouth, giving a long whistle.
Sarah could see both of the horses stop in the distance, turning and looking in their direction before and to her surprise, Falte can running towards them too.

Sarah was amazed at how large his horse was, it seemed a lot bigger now than when she had first seen it, on the beach yesterday.
‘What’s his name?’ she asked as he slipped through the paddock fencing and giving his horse a stroke along its side.
Turning to face her, a huge smile on his face and his eyes burning brightly with admiration for her, he replied ‘It’s Saxon’.
‘What does that mean?’ Becky asked curiously.
‘It means strong and ever faithful’ he replied before going back to where Sarah stood standing.

Taking hold of her hands he said ‘You have no idea what this means to me but he is very special to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart’.
Sarah could feel herself blushing again but before that could happen, he said ‘Now whose lovely horse is this?’ He said before going to give her horse a rub.
It’s mine, his name is Falte but be careful as he can be aggressive with strangers’ she told him afraid at what Falte might do.
But once again she was surprised to see that Falte took to him easily and allowed him to rub him down quite easily.

‘Well I’d be’ she said to Becky in amazement.
‘Do you fancy a ride?’ He asked hopefully.
‘You bet, I’ve a spare saddle and harness that should be okay for Saxon’ Sarah said herself slipping through the fence wires and leading Falte to the stable area.
As they led their horses, she could feel his gaze looking at her and she was frightened to look around in case, she just totally went weak at the knees and fell to the ground.

‘It didn’t take them long to saddle up and she was impressed at how quickly he got his mount ready.
She passed him a riding hat, where he looked at for a moment before seeing that see had put one on, followed suit.
‘Have fun guys’ Becky called out as they ride past.
‘I’ll go easy on you but Falte can get carried away and he likes to gallop fast’ she told him as they broke into a canter.
‘That’s fine, just lead the way’ he told her, smiling.

‘C’mon Sash’ she called out to her dog, ‘Let’s go to bed shall we?’
She said opening the door that led up the stairs.
As Sasha ran into her bedroom and leapt onto the bed, Sarah just
opened the door to the guest room, going inside to check on her
patient.
Drawing closer, she could see by the moon light shining through a gap in the curtains that he was still in the same position that they had left him earlier and picking up the cloth that was laying next to the bowl of water, she wiped his brow gently.

It was just then that his eyes flicked open and his hand touched hers,
‘My Lady?’ he asked quietly.
‘It’s okay, you are safe but you need rest, so sleep now’ Sarah replied
softly as she touched his hand with her other one.
He gave a puzzled look for a moment before his eyes closed and he
fell into a deep sleep, his grip loosening from hers as he did so.
She stood there watching him for a few moments, feel quite relieved
as this was a good sign but then she hadn’t really thought about what
was going to happen next. But it was very late and she was feeling
tired so thought it best to deal with that in the morning.

Sasha gave a little yawn as she snuggled under the duvet before
falling into a restless deep sleep as she wondered if this was all a
mistake. That night her dreams were full of mysterious images and for one moment she dreamt, that her and Falte were riding across the moor land at night for a meeting with Hallion, who sat astride his large charger, silhouetted by the moon light. Sarah turned in her sleep as the dream showed them meeting, drawing close to each other, taking a hold of each other’s hand, looking into each other’s eyes.

When suddenly Sasha jumped off the bed, knocking the table lamp over in the process, which landed on the floor with a crash. She sat up with a jolt, gathering her thoughts as she realised what had happened, almost wishing she had had seen more of the dream.
Shaking her head sadly ‘Oh well, it’s only a dream’ she thought, picking up the lamp before getting back into bed and drifting off to sleep once more.

The next morning the sun was shining brightly through the curtains
and she awoke with a slight hangover, ‘I shouldn’t drink alone’ she
thought to her self, playfully kicking the stuffed tiger of the bed.
Walking slightly unsteadily, she opened the guest room door ajar,
wondering if there would be any change but he was still in the same
position that she had left him.
‘C’mon Sash, breakfast time’ she said to her constant companion.
Sarah wrapped her dressing gown around her as she descended the
stairs, all the time Sash trying her best to trip her up, ‘You won’t get
any breakfast at this rate’ she laughed.

After feeding Sash and letting Charlie out of his pen, she sat down
for a nice cup of Earl Grey tea and even though it cost more to buy, it
was worth it.
Sarah had been sitting at the kitchen table for a few minutes when
there was a sudden crash from up stairs.
‘What the?’ she thought almost dropping her cup and saucer.
The noise had come from the guest room, she realised taking the
stairs two at a time.
‘Hello’ she called out before entering the room.
There in front of her laying on the floor, with just the bed sheet
wrapped around him, was the man who was awake but with a wary
and confused look on his face.
‘It’s okay’ Sarah told him softly, ‘You were hurt, so we brought you
here’ she added.

‘My lady?’ he replied still with a confused tone in his voice and she
noticed that he was avoiding looking at her.
For a moment she didn’t under stand why he wasn’t looking at her
but then she realised that it might have something to do that she was
only wearing her dressing gown, ‘ Just be a moment’ She told him,
cheeks flushing red slightly with embarrassment.
Quickly pulling on a tee shirt and a pair of jeans, she went back to
his room. As she entered he tried to stand up but his legs were still
weak and wouldn’t support him.
‘Here let me help you’ she said smiling as she took a hold of his arm.
‘Thank you my lady’ he replied as she helped him sit onto the bed
still not looking her directly in the eye.

‘And it’s just Sarah’ she replied with a warm smile.
She could see him thinking about that for a moment before replying
‘Thank you Sarah’ returning her smile, abet a little more tiredly
looking.
‘Can I get you anything and how do you feel?’ she asked concerned.
‘Tired and also hungry’ he replied, looking around and taking in his
strange surroundings.
He was about to ask another question but she beat him to it by
saying, ‘I’ll just get you something to eat and drink, then we can talk
if you feel up to it?’.
He gave another warm but tired smile and Sarah went downstairs to
fetch something.
He was still sitting where she had left him, when she entered back
into the room carrying a tray with a glass of orange juice, fruit and
home baked muffins.

Passing the glass to him, she noticed he looked at it for a moment but
deciding to trust her, started to drink it. He wasn’t sure about the
muffins but ate one of the apples.
‘Can I ask what is your name?’ Sarah said to him, sitting down on a
nearby wooden chair.
‘Lord Hallion de Veer’ he replied in between bites of the second
apple.
Her eyes widened slightly at hearing that but she said nothing before
asking if he knew what had happened to him.
His eyes gave a pained expression as he tried to remember ‘There
was a storm, my ship was in trouble, then blackness, I can’t
remember anything else’ he replied shaking his head.
Just then his hand went up to where his pendant had been, his eyes
looking lost for a moment.

‘It’s okay, is this what you are looking for?’ she asked taking the
pendant off the side table.
Sarah could see the relief on Hallion’s face as he took the pendant
safely from her hand, before securing it around his neck.
‘It must mean a lot to you but I can see why as it’s beautiful’ Sarah
said to him softly.
‘He looked up her, his eyes once again showing that pained look as he
spoke ‘It belonged to a lady not unlike yourself’ he replied quietly

Then he asked ‘How long have I been here and were there any other
survivors found?’
She shook her as she replied ‘I’m sorry you were the only one swept
from the sea and you have been here just over a day’.
‘No one at all!’ He shook his head sadly, looking downwards in despair.
He was quiet for a few moments while pondering this information
before asking ‘What is this land called?
‘It’s called Tasmania, it’s an island off the coast of Australia’ she
replied.
Once again he gave a puzzled look and Sarah asked ‘Where are you
from Hallion?’
‘I am or was from the land of Rios, lord of the high kingdom’ he
replied looking around the room.
This is all strange to me, your clothes, speech and what does this do?
He asked pointing to the table lamp.

Sarah suppressed a smile as she leaned over and flicked the switch,
with Hallion leaning back in surprise. Before he recovered, placing
his hand over the lamp shade, ‘There is no flame?’ He asked
curiously examining it carefully.
‘No it’s electric’ she replied with a giggle as she turned on the main
light switch.
This made him lean back and stare at the ceiling light in wonder
before he said ‘Amazing, please show me more’.
‘All in good time, but first how are you feeling?’ She asked
concerned.
‘Still weak in the legs but other than that I feel okay’ He told her
even thought he didn’t feel that great, he wanted to see more of the
wonders that she had shown him.

Hi everyone
This a story called Swept from the Sea, I originally wrote it for someone called Jenny who I had chatted with for a while from a chat room, she asked me to write something, so I asked what she would like? 'Suprise me' she replied, so I wrote this story including things like her horse, rabbit, fave drink etc.
I have posted this before on Coversations from NZ blog but decided to continue developing this story
